I was wondering, for many months, I have grown to know so many of you. But for those of us who don't have conversations outside of VJ, I can imagine that some of us (ME) really don't know how to actually SAY our "visa journey" names correctly, and the way they are actually pronounced.
For example: Is Zainab pronounced like ( Zay Nab )?
Of course, my VJ name is actually my "nickname" as we say here in the US.
My VJ name is pronouced like (Steee Veee)
So, please share with me/us, the actual way your VJ name is pronouced....
Some of the ones I wonder if I am saying correctly are Zainab, Zeinab...

and I guess "UNO" was "you know????" I love it...hahaha

Omoba just plain Omoba, what you see is what you get......comes from Omoba Ayo meaning joyful child of God. An Igbo friend gave me that name
many years ago.

Yep, that's how it's pronounced and sometimes it's spelled that way too. Zainab is my middle name. I have a good ole fashioned american name for folks who have trouble with the pronunciation. My mom found it in a book and I'm not particularly fond of it only cause it doesn't feel like the name was a gift for me especially, but that's what I'm called at work.

My vj name does not say anything, though KNL stands for my husbands and my name, Kwabena ~N~ Lisa. My husbands name is Solomon, but of course the family and friends always call him by his local name.
Since the other Ghanaian wives added their local names, I am Yaa. Only my husbands mom and sister call me that and on occasion my husband does.

Since a few people have gone on the actually explain the meaning of their VJ names, and even their actual names, here is my contribution.
My fiance's name is Taiwo Gbolohan Israel Awelawa (and those are just a FEW of them WITHOUT his surname). His English name is Richard. We, the family call him Taiwo (the Nigerian name given to the first born of a set of twins - the second baby is given the name Kehinde). Taiwo = "Pre-tasted the world." Kehinde = "The one who lagged behind".
A funny thing is that for months, when we first met, I would speak to his brother on the telephone, never knowing that he was my husbands Identical Twin. Then, one day, he so nonchalantly told me that they were twins (since I had not met him when I went to African last year because he was traveling), He just laughed it off like nothing. He said that is was not such a big deal. I was amazed to know that there was another man walking the earth with my man's identical FACE!
