Full Version: Adjustment? I-485???
VisaJourney.com > Marriage Based Immigration (K1, K2, K3, etc) to the USA > IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa General Discussion

My wife is a Mexican citizen with a tourist visa to enter the US. I'm an American and live in Arizona.

I went to a service that is supposed to help with immigration and they told me I can do either the K-3 or an I-485 adjustment, since my wife already has a tourist visa. They said with the I-485 she can't leave the USA while they are processing this. They said it only takes like 4 months total and that she will be able to work after the interview. They seem legit.

Also they told me with this option we won't have to go to an interview in Mexico, but instead to Phoenix, AZ.

I was surprised because I had not seen this option online. Is this true what they told me? IS this the fastest way to go for me? It sounds great if its true.

thanks

Lots of people do so. Only thing is you had to marry in the US plus she didn't come to the US with intentions of marrying you. Also she hasn't left the US since marrying you.

We were married in the US, but she has gone back home to work etc. Her home town is only like 50 miles from where i live in AZ. She's had her tourist visa for a long time so it wasn't her intent to marry using that visa. It's only been a couple weeks since we were married.

IS this the best way to go about it for us?

that is how is started my process, i am a Mexican citizen went to AZ (CA is too complicated) got married then moved to the US and started the process.

Her tourist visa will be taken away when she starts the process, but if she gets a Mexican passport USCIS can stamp it and she can go back to Mexico and back in the US using the passport. I would recommend that she would only go back to Mexico in case of an emergency.

In my case only been married for 2 years i was given a conditional residence but it has now being lifted and will soon get the 10 yr GC.

Good luck!
