married to a usc but got a divorced before the permanent resident what do you do.
ZeeNusah
What visa did you enter on?
Omoba
They filed a CR - 1 and had the interview recently and were approved June 12. 08

I assume the beneficiary is using this account now and asked the question.

You proceed to file on your own for the lifting of conditions. Please post in the ' effects....' forum for more in depth help.

I am confused.

Did they get divorced before they had the interview to obtain a visa?

Is the beneficiary in the U S or their home country?
Omoba
No they did not get divorced before the interview and I assume the beneficiary is here in the states needing to lift conditions by herself.

Here is what I do not understand. She came in on a CR1, so is she saying that within the time that she came here she has not received her greencard and they are getting divorced?

Now, in this thread she is talking about an interview for permanent residence in 1-2 months: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138253

Am I missing something?
Omoba
I have asked her for more info in the other thread. I think she is confused about the next step or maybe she does not realize that lifting conditions
does not happen so soon...........but the what is the appointment for ? There just isn't enough info to go by.
ZeeNusah
My confusion is about that appointment too. I thought that the CR1 visa recipient automatically got the greencard once they enter the US.
Omoba
That is my understanding too. And she mentioned lifting of conditions...........there is nothing to lift now.

Hello, If your spouse enters on a CR_1 before your 2 year filing anniversary Not marraige but when you filed then you have to apply to life conditions, but you do receive your greencard, its called a 2 yr conditional greencard, if your spouse enters the US after 2 yrs from your filing date, then you don't have to lift conditons once they arrive.. I hope that was helpful, My husband and I will have to Lift conditons in 2010

Sorry for the confusion. You already no my case we just got our visa and my wife is landing in the state tomorrow. This person is a very close friend of mine. She came on fiance visa and I think they have to go for series of interview b4 they can get the green card. So far things are not working very well for them that is why she is using my user's name to ask questions. I am really sorry for the confusion. What I will suggest is for her to register and then ask her question under her name, so as to avoid this error in the future.
