Hi All

I am new to this forum....I came across this site while I was googling for montreal visa processing timelines and am happy that I did

Does anyone in the forum have an idea about how long it takes to get the actual interview date at Montreal Consulate for spouse visa after the packet for medical, police clearence etc is received?

My spouse visa is at the Packet 2 stage , so was wondering how much longer it will take for the whole process to be over ( My husband applied for my spouse visa in August 2007.....

Any input/information will be really appreciated

Thanks

Hi, welcome to the site!

Do you mean you have just sent in the DS-230 and waiting for your "case complete"?

My case was complete April 23rd and my interview is July 23rd. My husband started our visa process July 2007

You will get alot more information in our "Canada" forum.

Thanks a lot for your reply ..

For my case, We sent in the first fee bill and choice of agent ....

When I called the automated service they say" Immigration Fee Bill has been generated on July 1st and will be sent soon" ..

I guess after that we still have to fill I-864( Affidavit of support) and then they will send us the third packet ( for police clearence, medical etc)

I was wondering after the final package ( with medical and police clearence) is sent to NVC , how long it will take for me to get the interview date..

Also , how do I look at the Canada Forum?

Thanks again

Once you have paid the $400 immigration fee bill, you will then receive the notice to send your DS-230 form along with police certificate, long birth certificate and any other forms they require. You will also need to send in your Affidavit of Support (have you paid the fee for that and received notice to send it in?). Once all that has been sent in and processed by the NVC your case will be complete. They start scheduling interviews the 2nd week of every month for the next month depending on availibilty. My case was complete on April 23 but my interview is not until July 21st. Once your interview has been schedule, you will then go for your medical exam, you take your results with you to your interview.

Hi Linda,Nita

Thanks a lot for the info

Tried to call NVC today to get my IIV to pay my IV bill online , no success, will try again today at night as suggested in several other posts..The bill was generated on July 1st

So I guess from the time they say "Case Complete' to the final interview it is about 2+ months in general

Hi Wings,

Yes, it's generally 2 to 3 months. You can see what others timelines have been by checking out the Montreal Timeline to Interview thread for CR1/IR1 visas.

Also, as Linda mentioned, you will find a lot of good information in the Canada forum.

Good luck good.gif

Actually if you paid online, you don't have to wait for anything from NVC. You wait until your status says "PAID" (which is a couple of days) you print the coverletter and send off what is required. You can print the DS-230 form from the Department of State web site. The coverletter goes for the AOS Fee and IV Bill, if generated online it will come with barcode. You will have to get your IIN (Invoice Identification Number) from the NVC operator (tell them you want it for your records)which takes a couple of trys and usually it's better you call around 6 to 9pm Eastern time. The operators are more friendly at this time. Also if you pay online it saves a couple of months in the process at NVC. There been people that by paying online they did it within a month or so. Also it helps having all your documents together already to go by the time you get AOS Fee and IV Bill paid. And AOS and IV Bill are on different paths and you dont't have to wait for the AOS Fee to be paid to get the IV Bill Generated. The DS-3032 needs to be in the system for the IV Bill to be generated. Hope this makes sense. This is why I send you the Loto Link, if it's not attached you can contact him to send you the sheet.

Good Luck

Nita

Hi folks

Thanks trailmix, nita , lindab and loto for all the input

I got my IIV number from the NVC Operator ....We have not received the I864 yet, so will be directly downloading it from the website and sending it off ..as as suggested by Nita and Loto.......

Now my next question is :

As my spouse visa processing will be from the Montreal Consulate , Will they be sending me the DS-230 OR will it be NVC? When does NVC hand over the case to the foreign consulate? I have given myself as the agent of choice in the DS3032 Form earlier...

Also any idea what they will need me to submit along with DS230...I checked Loto's Guide smile.gif , I was wondering whether this checklist changes from consulate to consulate ....
I am also checking the Canada forum for some input on the same issue

Please do let me know

Thanks again
