Do you guys know which date from the KI Fiance Visa issued is the date that we are not supposed to have expired in order to get a SSN?

We already got married and mailed our I-485 so I think that the KI-1 visa expiration date is not valid since we did get married within the 90 days, but I am confused because in our passport we have the spapled white paper that has K1 visa number and says June 16 2008 and on the other side of the booklet we have the part that says visa with his picture on it and it gives an expiration date of September 03-2008

the 09-03-2008 is the one that we are not to let get too close for our SSN card correct?

thanks so much wacko.gif

For a K1 entry, you can apply for SSN up to 76 days after entry--14 days before the I-94 expires. You are too late and will have to wait for either the EAD or GC to get SSN.

I second that!

Upon arriving to the US, the beneficiary has a window of 10 - 76 days to apply for the SSN card. It takes approximately 10 days for the arrival record from the I-94 to be proccessd from the POE into the Homeland Security database. After 76 days, it is considered too close to the 90 expiration of the I-94 for processing of a SSN (for various reasons). As John has stated, it's too late after 76 days and the beneficiary will have to wait for the EAD or GC to acquire a SSN.

Cheers!!!

p.s. John, you are the best... Hopefully all is well and good with you...

ditto good.gif once you enter at your POE, the expiration of the K-1 Visa is irrelavant. it's the expiration of the I-94 that counts.
