So I'll be going shopping in Pennsylvannia in a couple weeks with friends and I don't plan on mentioning the K1, will they see it in the system? I figure I'm not going to visit my boyfriend or anything and will be in a carload of girls going shopping.

My major questions however is when I visit my boyfriend at the end of July, when I cross can I still say visiting my boyfriend? Or should I just say fiancee?

We just filed for the K1, but he hasn't officially proposed yet so I don't consider myself engaged. I don't have a ring (not that a ring is what makes you engaged) and we are definiely planning to make it official (just waiting patiently for him to propose).

So I'm not sure what to say. Last time the guy asked me if I was moving to the U.S. or if he was moving to Canada. I just said "We don't know yet" and he was happy with that.

Fiancee or boyfriend? I guess in their eyes, fiancee? That's what I'm leaning on.

When you go down to PA on the shopping trip with the girls that is really all you need to mention - that you are going shopping with the girls:-). There is no need to go into any more detail unless they specifically ask.

For the trip when you are visiting your fiance, yes, I would say fiance because that is the true situation. One thing I found useful was to carry a copy of our I-129f submission with me as part of my evidence of intent, along with the other proof of ties to Canada. On one of my trips south when I was pulled into secondary, they went through my package of proof at the counter. I saw when they got to the information about the I-129f and they went through it thoroughly, then closed up the package without looking at anything else, and said I was free to go. The burden of proof is on you to reassure them that you are not immigrating on this trip but are a visitor, regardless of what your future plans are, and by giving evidence that you are following the proper immigration procedures it offers another level of reassurance.

Now, if they ask who will be moving, you will be able to tell them smile.gif . Good luck and enjoy your trip!

^^ Thanks Kathryn!! I will make sure I have all the documentation ready in case. We didn't really make a true copy our our I-129F submission. But I have all the forms saved and so I'll just get my bf to scan anything else I need and make a replica before I leave. We should probably have one anyways so I might as well make one now. I'll also have a letter from my employer too.

So I guess I will just say fiancee. Weirddddd!

What the hell? Where do you all shop in PA?

A few of my friends went to PA a few weeks ago to shop...is there some magical mall or outlet spot I haven't heard of??

Please let me in on the PA secret. smile.gif

Haha yes, there is a huge outlet mall there. It's the Grove City Prime Outlets. Everything is tax free there (I think in all of PA). It's a big outdoor mall with a trolley that takes people around.

I think the Woodbury Commons outlets are way better, but its 4 hours to Grove City and like 7 to Woodbury Commons from Toronto, so we're opting for Grove City.

Woodbury Commons would be closer for you though for sure!

I used to go shopping in Erie. They have a lot of great places to shop there. Food, most clothing, and footwear are among the items which are tax-exempt, so you'll see a lot of bus companies bringing people down to shop from surrounding states and from Canada.

See I go to the outlets down at AC.

I love the banana republic outlet store. <3

I've heard good things about those outlets.

I actually haven't been to AC yet, my bf isn't really a fan, but we will go eventually.... and then I will shop!

Okay, I give. What's the AC?
