the short form would be the one that everyone has just like a little card right? and then the long form i will have to send away for, i wasn't sure how long the police check was good for, good to know its a year i was thinking 3 months lol do you know how long it takes to get a police check is it pretty fast?
Only the long form birth certificate is accepted as the small ones usually don't have parents names on it.
I went to my local RCMP in Alberta for my police certificate. I did have a problem with them understanding the difference between a criminal records check and a police certificate. I finally found someone who worked there who knew what I was talking about and mine only took a few minutes. Some people do have to wait for them- it depends where you go I guess. If there is any previous criminal history- you will need a fingerprint check and that can take several months for the results.
Any previous divorce certificates- if either of you were married before. The Vancouver consulate also wants previous marriage certificates- I'm not sure if your consulate will be Montreal or Vancouver. I had to order one from the registry office.
Start looking into tracking down your immunization records- they no longer had my records so I went for a Titres test. They draw blood and check what you are immune to. I ended up showing low immunity to a few things and had all my shots redone. With my Alberta heath care- It didn't cost anything.
