I am k1 and i am now in america,I have I-94 card and i applied for SSN on june.27th,I wonder can i work before me and my fiancee get married? We both want to have enough time to get ready for the wedding,But i gotta work for live,I thank you.god bless you all.
Unless you got a work authorization stamp at the port of entry, the answer is no. Once you do get married and apply for AOS, you can also apply for an EAD which gives you authorization to work.
Thank you for the reply and do you mean the stamp on my I-94 card?It has a date,
Can i use SSN and I-94 card to work before get married?I saw some infomation on other forum that some people say you can work as long as your I-94 card is not out of the date on your I-94 card.Is that right?
no you cannot work until you are married, have filed AOS along with EAD (work authorisation) and have the EAD *in your hand* to show your employer. Look at your I-94 and see if it is stamped with the temporary work authorisation. If it is, then you are allowed to work until the I-94 expires, after that you will need your EAD.
