Okie dokie....

Someone mind clarifying what the second interview usually entails? At our original interview we had loads of proof! To the point where the Consul didn't even want to see any of it. She just asked for my favorite picture and thats it! She said Congrats go pay for your visa.

A few hours later we got the dreadfull call we were being sent to AP.

Now I have been calling DOS every week for the last month and a half...Today I got some different news than..."its still in ap"

Today the girl said...."well your case is still in AP but it looks like the embassy will be contacting the beneficiary today to set up a second interview."

Soooo...what does it all mean? I've been slowly losing my mind this last month...and now my last thread is about to snap.

Any and all Advise is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,

Diana B (petitioner)

Hi Diana,
This looks like very good news actually so we should celebrate a little. It is much better than being in the black hole of AP. The second interview is usually given late in the AP stage, usually 7-9 months after initial AP and soon after the visa is issued. So if your SO got the interview date this early, it means this will clear up questions they may have and bascially quicken up the visa process. This basically means they will give him the interview, asking more detailed questions, similar to those in initial interview, and would like proof of the ongoing relationship, I would tell him to print out recent e-mails just to have it with him. After this interview, all that will be left is the clearance. As soon as he gets the security clearance, they will most likely not need to see him any more and will issue the visa. Do not worry, God is with you, he will get the visa as soon as these procedures are cleared up.

My prayers are with you,
Prep him for the interview and assure him that everything will be all right. It is very normal to be put in AP and have a second interview. In my consulate, they call people back and stamp another "Administrative Processing" if checks are not done and call right after they are done. My husband was got his second stamp at the 6th month of AP and now after 10 months, he got a call back. Different consulate, different rules. Over all, this is good news, this is progress towards the visa and I pray that he will recieve his visa soon.

I agree with Tammy. I think the second interview is good news and they probably are interested in seeing proof of an ongoing relationship.

We had almost the same situation. We were put on AP after the first interview and were told to bring more proof of our relationship to the second interview.

Second interview was a breeze smile.gif

Good luck!!!

It's normal really.

They interview the applicant. Approve and sent the case to AP. Then when the AP is cleared they call the applicant back and normally ask for additional information.

It happened to us.

Just be happy they don't ask for a resume detailing every job/school/location lived in/personal references l(ike they asked of us) on the 11th hour.

Oh you guys....

I called the embassy today to set up the second interview. I was advised by both DOS and the embassy's email "immigration visa unit" that i should call in and req an expedited interview. When I emailed the embassy these are their exact words:

"On the white sheet Mr. **** was given there are instructions on making a new appointment.
I am not sure how long the wait is for an appointment, however you should tell them you would like an expedited appointment since you were undergoing administrative processing.
It is not necessary to pay for the interview again.
If his medical exam and police report are not expired, he will not need to bring anything.
It is not necessary for the petitioner to attend the itnerview.
If the visa is approved, it takes about 5 business days to receive the visa.

Best regards,
Immigrant Visa Unit"

I emailed them back stating that we didn't get a white form at the interview (no 221g)..and they emailed back saying to call the embassy for the appointment.

I called the embassy paid the ridiculous 16 dollers to get someone on the line and the lady proceeded to yell at me telling me that I shouldn't have called DOS and that i should just wait. Mind you this lady didn't even ask me for my fiance's case number or passport as the prompt states you will need. She just shot me down and said if she gives me a interview date and he doesn't show up with the appropriate paperwork he WILL be denied.

I started to cry....pitifull i know....and she stopped yelling requested the case number and gave me the first interview date she could and proceeded to end the call! When I asked what does he need to bring she says she cannot release the information even though an interview was set up.

this is incredibly distressing you guys!!

I complained to the visa unit and this is what they said:

"I am sorry you had such a bad experience. I will forward your email on to my supervisor.

Your fiance does not need to bring anything to the interview unless his police certificate and/or medical exam have expired. If they have expired, he will need to undergo a new medical exam and/or request a new police certificate.

Best regards,
Immigrant Visa Unit"

So you guys...now that that last string has snapped.....and I am a sobbing mess due to that idiot over at the embassy...WHAT IS ON THE WHITE PAPER THAT WE NEVER RECEIVED!?!?!?!

Im not sure if every embassy uses the same 221g but...what does it say? Can I really trust this Visa Unit in saying that he will not need to take anything to the interview?

please...let me know...

Don't get too upset because of the lady on the phone. The Consulate staffers are notoriously rude and ignorant.

If the AP is done and you have not been given instructions about missing documents, it is only a brief follow up interview as part of visa issuance.

Try to relax.

The last thing you should be worrying about is information on a white paper form that you never received.

Having just had a melt down two days ago about almost the same thing I can understand. We were notified of nothing, not the change of our case number or his second interview in two weeks (the consulate said they did not have our address wacko.gif )

Take some tylenol pm and get a good nite's rest. I am sending my SO with copies of all his paperwork (which they did say he would need) two photos, a new translation of his id card (birth certificate) and he will have a new medical. I am also sending certified mail a new affidavit of support although they did not request one.
Essentially he is taking everything to this interview that they had for the first. I believe in being prepared for anything.

This is a good sign, in my case the letter says the security checks are complete so barring a hit when they run him in the CLASS system he will have his visa in three weeks.

Keep a positive attitude and do not let anyone upset you (advise I should take myself).

Good luck and take everything.

Diana, Nutty and Belinda are 100% correct and I can confirm you that this is all good news. I know it is hard, I have cried many time after hanging up from DOS and when I went personally to the embassy and even they did nothing for me, I felt so terrible that only tears and prayers saved me that day. At least you can get a hold of your consulate, mine does not accept phone calls, or keeps forwarding to people who make no effort to look up the case number.

So from what I see, you really want to know what is on the white sheet - basically all 221g issuances address the same general thing, that essentially the person was temporarily denied due to various factors, and whichever factor it is, that is the one they have check marked. Most common is the visa has to undergo Aministrative processing due to the fact that is has not met the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Please check my PM for details about the exact things the form states.

Again, do not let anyone make you feel bad, I know everyone here who have answered you along me have been through the tears due to the embassy's insensitivity many times but they do issue the visa as soon as checks and processing is done. So keep your mind with God and your hopes for the visa alive and happy.

Ok...Andres got a call from the embassy yesterday telling him about the interview.

Andres told her that we were given the interview date as August 21st and the person from the embassy said "NO!! Thats too late of an interview...you need to call and request an expedited interview because it is urgent. You are out of administrative process and need to tell them that its a second interview and they should issue you an earlier date."

When he asked what was needed for the interview (like evidence or paperwork) the lady said that he needed his white paper and his passport. Andres told him that he wasn't given a white paper at the embassy (we are assuming this is the 221g) and his passport is still at the embassy because they never gave it back.

So the lady said he should show up with nothing since nothing is required.

I called the embassy yesterday and paid $16 again and got the same hag of a woman...(this time i got her name) Paulina Ramirez. She was horrible again and said that there weren't any earlier dates. I told her that the embassy said that one is too late and that we needed an expedited one...she said there was nothing she could do...then i said that the reason they needed it expedited was because legally they cant hold the passport for too long (this is total BS) and she said...hold on a minute, she came back to the line and said... "Ok we have openings for interviews Wed. Thur. Fri. This week and all next week. when do you want your interview"

She pissed me off soo much! I kept my cool though and finally she gave in. She just must have had it out for me I dont know...but its confirmed. Andres has his interview this Thursday July 10th at 7am.

I dont know why people can be so rude to others. I work in customer service and I would never treat someone like that.

Anyways..

I'll let you all know how it goes once the interview is over!
