I must say it is intersting to read you American men analyzing behavior of Russian/Ukrainian woman. All I have to say on the topic both you and your wives are corageous people. I mean, I doubt I would ever even consider marrying an American if I haven't met my darling on accident during my last stay in US and dated him for quite some time in person.

At the same time, there seems to be so many tales of Russian/Ukrainian woman marrying for money. And the funny thing is that none of them realises that life in America is just that - life. Hard working, ### busting life, where if you want to have nicer things you have to work for them.

Derby pies (and Derby everything else except traffic jams) are overrated.

I don't know, but when I lived there I enjoyed getting up very early and going to the balloon races and watching the steam boat race on the Ohio river. I must admit It's been more than 20 years since I had derby pie..... time for another taste.

A few questions:

If the chick loved the guy, but not the American economy, why didn't she just ask him to live in her home country?

Might that have something to do with the guy not knowing anything about the home country aside from his contact with her?

Are his ancestors from that country?

Does he speak her mother tongue?

Does he know her family?

Did he ever live in that country previously?

Did they meet in a chat room, or in person?

Did they get engaged after him visiting her for a week?

Sometimes when I read about people's visa journeys I wonder what these peeps are smokin'.

solid relationships require some things that are overlooked very often:

1. Transparency: if she doesn't tell you what you want to know when you want to know it, then RUN!
2. Trust: if you have the slightest touch of doubt about whether she still likes her ex, then RUN!
3. Communication: If you don't speak one of her languages, and she doesn't speak one of yours, RUN!
4. Rationality: If you can't get a girl that hot in the U.S., you may just be renting the one you're getting overseas, so RUN!
5. Family compatibility: If her family is uncomfortably poor, uneducated, and downtrodden and you're not, then RUN!

Because for a guy whose relationship is grounded in fantasy it's a lot easier to attribute her indifference to him on cultural differences or other such nonsense

I once had a buddy (who was divorced, remarried, and in the process of going through his second divorce) tell me that marriage had nothing to do with love.

I'm inclined to believe otherwise.



The "plenty of suitors" that my wife has run into here aren't wealthy enough either..... (I still like to claim it's my sexual prowess that keeps her locked in but I know the real reason; they're all poor too.)

I wish there was a big billboard on the side of all those "fiancee" sites that drove home this point. Seems most of them, even after they're here, still do their best to deny this fact. Sooner or later though, they realize what a "good deal" it is to have a guy that pays their bills, pays attention to them, doesn't beat them or screw other women and is just generally pleasant to be around. But, even still, it's a hard sell!


I didn't quote the other topic above but khengool posted, "why didn't she ask the guy to live in her home country?" This is the basis for slim's tried and true daisy (she loves me, she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not, she loves.....) test when it comes to international romance and relationships. Think it's for real? Well, tell her you're not going to do the K-1 anymore because you're selling your house, your car, and everything else so you can come live with her. If she's for it (or at least not against it) then she may just like you. If she makes a noise like the one when people throw up a little bit in their mouth, you should probably click on a few more profiles before sending anything to the serivce centers.

And as groovlstk keeps pointing out, ignoring warning signs is not the best way to find "the one," you're only setting yourself up for failure. However, I do have to argue that there are plenty of guys out there more than willing to be a sperm bank with a checkbook. That's why a lot of these girls come here with the expecation of driving their BMW around shopping and meeting girlfriends all day while the guy fills the checkbook by working.

Maybe you don't get out alot, or there isn't lots of Russian/American couples in your area, but I see this ALOT. And these marriages last many many years too. I can think of one couple I know that falls into this category that are going on 15 years. So, I would argue that love isn't neccesary.

Hell, I see this a lot with American couples. Older man with his "trophy" wife, and it's pretty obvious that it's nothing but a marriage of convenience. Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a rich guy out with his wife, or out with his daughter. I live in a wealthier part of the state though (I don't fall in that demographic, but I don't do too bad for myself either) so maybe that's why it seems so prevalent here.

I agree with Slim: if you're marrying for a trophy, more power to you, and I just personally want to thank you for allowing some of your wealth to be redistributed back into our troubled economy. There are some *amazing* trophy wives to be had from the FSU, and if it doesn't bother (generic) you that probably the only thing she doesn't find repulsive about you is your money, then go for it.

There is love in a relationship like that. She loves his money and he loves depositing his sperm. Everybody wins!

Yes, this kind of relationship can work. It all depends on how you qualify a sucessful marriage. We can say the same about all cultures, as you have pointed out here, but I was thinking specifically about Russian/American. I personally have seen this type of marriage more in that area, but I'm not claiming that to be scientific, or the norm. It is just my experience.

So, back to the guy who this thread was about, he needs to be down with the fact that she doesn't love him, AND ALSO be willing to support a 'trophy wife' (IMO), or move on. If he is, c'est la vie, more power to him.

Desperation plays a role in all relationships. It's just overcome with time in most.....

Do you mean the situation of the man with money entering a marriage of convenience with a trophy wife? I would say in the general case...no. If you have money, then you're not going to be desperate for a trophy wife because you won't be able to swing a cat without hitting them as they fall out of the woodwork. And if you're looking for a Russian (or other international) trophy wife, you pays your website fees and you clicks on your new wife. No desperation necessary.

On the other hand, if you're talking about just some random dude who goes looking for an international wife because he supposedly can't get a "real" wife...well...search the archive. That particular discussion has been re-hashed over and over and over. Short answer: people do many things for many different reasons. One of those reasons is desperation. There are many others.

Or if you're talking about the pie conversation, then yes. Desperation for pie has ruined many a man.

Jenny Craig, NutriSystem, even that Richard Simmons deal-a-meal stuff is a good way to curb the pie craving although I don't think there's a 12-step program.

Nadya is pregnant. The father is man of 40 years old Russian. You have some friends here that have relatives in Kazan or YO, they can verify this. I am sorry to insult you. I can speak enough Russian and befriend people enough staff members of the hospital that kept informing what was going on and what she was saying to them. I am sure that I can find out the father's name. She only booked 4 weeks vacation and she was going to visit Kirk and immediately return home after 3 weeks.
She is disliked by her co workers, because she rubs their face in the money she gets from Kirk, so they are jealous and nicknamed her " The model".

She used to be a good girl until she got into the party mode (she was 21) with her original fianace Roman. Roman payed everything for her and she adored him, but she cheated on him so many times, then he left her. Final time was a married man in February 2006. She liked wealthy married men, because they would not interfere with her life and they gave nice gifts. If you do not belive ask a bank manager in YO called Audrey at MDM bank.
I think the worst is when she was with a married man who was her sugar daddy. She has told everyone at the hospital that men are to be used and they mean nothing to her. After her relationship with her father, you can see her dislike. She loves her mom, but left her home because of her father. Both her father and her have strong personalities and will not break, plus her father has a drinking problem. She left home, because of her father. When she first arrived in YO, there was not a better lady in the world, but she dated Roman. Roman paid everything for her and got her into drinking and partying. When they broke up, her friends Marina and Tanya (co workers) continued the trend of drinking and partying. She justed wanted to have fun and had the looks to use men to do it. She has used and cheated on every man she has dated. Only man that she cares about is her nephew Sevestian.

I hope that she truly cares for this man and I am glad that she is going to keep the baby.

I have another fiancee (although I would never call Nadya a fiancee) see the flag up top. Why is this my business? Because I should blacklisted her a long time ago after what she did in YO and her history . Ask Ivan at Alina's Agency and Nikolai. Because I thought I could get the old Nadya back whether to the way she was before myself and Roman where we spoiled a simple village girl, I felt responsible. But when she started to ask money from many others including myself, Kirk and Kevin ( I have his letter to prove it). I decided to blacklist her when I found about this. But it was too late. Plus the ladies in the hospital kept on emailing me about the situation with her. I should have blacklisted her long time ago when I found out what she did in YO. I don't understand why you are attacking some one for making a mistake that you say you made first. It seems to me you should have some sympathy. It also seems to me that there is a large backstory here that we don't really know. Why don't you post about your own experiences, and about your current fiance'. Start with developing your profile.

I do take much responsibility for what Nadya became same with Roman. With great regret, I watched Nadya become who she is. I knew her for 5 years.
Bobalouie, stalker, she never officially broke with me until my friend in YO found a list of letters of her corresponding with many men including Kirk. She was not even writing her letters. I decided to blacklist her.She was asking for money & gifts till the very end and only when I blacklisted her, is when she stopped. Before she asked for $1000 dollars and she would stop all contact with everyone she was writing. I heard rumours of two men who visited Nadya. One was Kirk, then other, I never found out.
Audrey is the manager of the bank in YO who met her in Turkey when she was with me, but that can be explained later.
If the ladies want to email, then it is something I never asked for about Nadya. I got upset when others decide that they wanted to follow her path and have a free trip to the USA. Only contact I recently with her is to call her and ask her to tell Kirk the truth about her pregnancy and that she is going to marry another man. I am happy right now with a lovely lady in Ukraine. Profile, I am getting recruit to work in States. I have three professional designations and working on the forth as accounting standards and investment policies are revamped, I am finding that I am spending more time in the US than Canada.

The girl, Irina, she is from the city of Nikolaev in the Ukraine. She was a Russian teacher, but quit because the money was not great. She works two jobs just to stay ahead, so I am trying to help her right now with that, but I do not want to destroy a relationship or end up like I was before. Right now, I am mixed up, because I am suppose to move to the states soon, but I am not sure I can bring her to the States with any ease. It is cruel to marry someone from a foreign country and bring her here and never be home.

Nadya a monster, no, she is seeking revenge against men, because of her father. Her father was a very abusive man. He regularly abused her mother. Nadya loves her mother and her sisters and of course SEvestian, but not the men of her family. She regrets what she did to Roman her first love, but he was her first love. He paid everything for her including her apartment, but she got became greedy and wanted money from other men. When I start to court in the beginning, I did not give her much except flowers and silver bracelet. She was a nice girl, but Roman wanted a party girl and her attitude changed. I did know that she was with Roman. She began to get banned from every marriage agency in YO. I was only foreigner that can handle her change in behavior. Roman and her coworkers introduced in the party life. Before some man grabbed her breast in the bar, and she knocked him out. But too much beer and money given by Roman, she started to change. Her father is an alcoholic and very hot tempered and used his spouse, Nadya hates him and the saying is that you become who you hate. Unfortunately, because she has humour, beauty and personality, but she has this hate.
