good morning from jerusalem! yesterday we had a crazy man get on a bulldozer and kill and hurt lots of people just 10 minutes from here. thank g-d we're all safe here. i hope you're all doing well!

I saw that on the news! glad your alright! Those machines can do ALOT of damage in the wrong hands - I should know, my husband works with them.

Seria, glad you are alright. Pray that your trip goes wonderful. Took hubby to work and instead of staying up went back to bed, now i wish i would have stayed up. That made me more tired. A bunch of storms moved thru here last night early. Trees are down every where. We lost our cable for a while. the wind blew so hard and it rained it was like a monsoon. Today looks like a beautiful dayy.

Sereia how long have you been there, a while right? Are you there all summer? I am coming at the end of the summer....

g'morning everyone. my last day of work this week, and i have 4 days off.

I HAD my coffee, home today, dog is going to get her flea dip yuk

I work today 10-5pm...off Friday and work Sat/Sun. Today I will call Century Tile and get an interview set for next week. This place I will apply to...is literally 10 minutes from home. (and that is including going thru Dunkin Donut for coffee) I would save $300 a month on gas easily.

I am so sore from cutting grass yesterday.

I learned alot over the years on how to ask for 'perks' in a job interview. Some people I have worked with have asked for, and gotten, free cell phones, sign-on bonuses, huge guarantees of salary, .... I am usually too timid to ask ...but not this time. I'm thinking a sign-on bonus would be nice.

prob depends on how big the industry is, and how bad they want and need you, dont out price yourself but get what you deserve and consider what they offer as perks

they will want me even if they dont need me...that sounded kinda snooty and didnt mean to be, i'm just confident in what i do

the money issue has ALWAYS made me mad. I worked next to a man once, and we did the exact same job, in fact I out wrote him most months, I had a $500 a week guarantee (plus commission) and he had a $900 a week guarantee :| That was a few years ago. I don't want that to happen again. If I can get just a little more than where I am now..I will make the change.

Jackie, Im an avid, cream and sugar only, and my sis is all into cooky flavors, well last night she brings home some folgers walnut creme coffee and starts making a pot...the smell was to die for...the taste!! Blaa i felt like i was eating a piece of candy! Flavored coffee is not for me...i enjoy the taste of plain coffee...

I FINALLY have my interview for assistant manager...my big boss kept rescheduling...officially i already have the spot...he just has to do it by the book for HR purposes!! I have to be at the bank at noon and he should be there shortly after...im so excited...

all my fam is going to the taste of chicago tonight...but...not me, its obviously not a place to bring a baby, Im jealous...mmm a frozen chocolate banana!! oh well i have to work til 8pm anyways

Haven't heard anything from him on msm, text, email, or phone in 2 days... this is a first and I am totally flipping out! Last year his phone was out for a day and he had been tear gassed - time before that he was driving a bulldozer and it flipped into the ocean and he ended up in the hospital I wish I could call his house, but no one there even speaks english and my arabic is just not up to asking for details.

Add all of this to what was going on yesterday, and I am about to have a mental break down

I am feeling horribly land locked. It's taking all my wits to not engage the hubster in his interest in a job in NC. It's much harder that I expected it to be.

It's tough when things are hard. But why resist encouraging the new job in NC?

Because we relocated to Kansas (from FL) just in december for a new position. It doesn't look good careerwise, and financially it doesn't make a lot of sense to move again so soon.

I am in the middle of negotiating job perks (I am the same JJ as you) I got an offer for one company and the place I am working at now wants to counter offer... but I get embarrassed over these things. any suggestions?

The sad thing here is now we found out Starbucks is going to lay off something like 150,000 people and DHL is also cutting back. Hate to negotiate myself out of a job.... The first offer I had is more pay and 5 weeks paid time off.. totally digging the Paid time off gives me more time to see my hubby..... should I even negotiate.. uuugghhhhh

It's only bad career wise if it happens again.. but if it's what you guys want and it will suit you for the next 5 yrs of your life does it matter??? Just being advocate. I don't know how I would do inland.. good luck

I've been 'landlocked' all my life. Everytime I visit a coast, I dream of living there. If my SC fam wasn't so dysfunctional, I'd move there.

I am at work (shhhhhhhh dont tell my boss). My daughter works for Baker's Square and they closed many stores last year and just closed more this week.

It would not hurt to inquire and test the waters to see if 'more' is possible. If this next offer is at least the same money, I will take it just to work closer to home. I am now driving over an hour a day and it's taking a toll on gas and time. hey...thats 13 days of my life each year driving! wow.

they're both closer to home thank goodness... ohh JJ how depressing 13 days a year driving!!!!! that sucks? Thanks for the advice. I think i am interested in the one that has all the PTO lol for obvious reasons
