JP...I would like to say soon you will be welcome to the world of little sleep and lots of love!! my thoughts to you would be sleep when the baby sleeps and take help if somebody offers to give you a break. After a month or so take time for just you and your husband to go and get dinner. It doesn't have to be a long evening out just two hours or so. Also, in the nursery at the hospital you will hear different things about the umbilical cord and using alcohol to rub on it. Some nurses say to use it every diaper change well my advice would be maybe at first use it often but slack off on it so that the cord dries out. I loved my swaddler that one of the ladies posted...awesome..get a small and a medium one if you can. OHHHHHHHH and those huge mumbu jumbu diaper bags...I wouldn't waste my money. Those things are so unbelievably huge that they are inconvenient when shopping. If you bottle feed always bring a bottle the temperature that the baby likes and bring a really hot one so that it will be ready in a few hours if you are still out. If breastfeeding doesn't work out don't blame yourself. I hope that if that is what you choose to do that it works wonderful but sometimes it's just not a possiblity so don't eat yourself up about it. I know this isn't the best advice but just a few things I have learned along the way!

Tashas advice is fantastic....i agree...dont feel bad to "surrender" for help...If someone u trust offers...TAKE IT...i over did it the first few weeks, and when the colic set in, i was soo sleep deprived, i lost it...now, when my sis in law, neighbor, friends, or aunts offer to take him, i dont hesitate...

on the belly button thing...my doc told me not to do it, he said there is no proof that it helps it dry out faster with alcohol then without so why bother....Zaids fell off in about 6 days...

trust urself...u will know what your baby needs and wants, and THE WHOLE WORLD will try to tell u whats right and wrong...do what u think is best...other peoples advice drove me nuts in the beginning...

Ok ya'll win, you vj men want to come to baby showers? then just wait, you will now be expected to attend all slumber parties, sandbox parties, going away parties, and bachlorette parties. (and you KNOW what goes on there! )

So I just got back from my Dr. Appt....she is putting me on leave when I hit 36 weeks. 3.5 weeks to go! I have no clue what I am gonna do to keep myself occupied.

u're gonna lay there and throw darts at the 'pin the sperm on the egg' game that u just realized u forgot to take down and then u're gonna lay down on the couch and devour pint after pint of ice cream and donuts....enjoy

I was put on semi bed rest (i.e. after work go to bed!) around then and voila went into labor!!!

For the day or two that I had free I caught up on the new talk shows. I really love the Rachel Ray one (I know some don't like her or even hate her but i love her food) and Ellen.



Sounds good. It's all bullsh!t anyways I doubt anyone really reads those objectives for more than a milli-second before moving on to what experience you had.

At the rate I've been gaining weight, I don't see any ice cream or donuts in my future. Since last months visit I have gained 20lbs!

i'll take care of the ice cream....who's gonna take care of the donuts?
