Happy Canada Day everyone!

Here is a quizz from the Globe&Mail to test your knowledge of Canadian and American general information - it is pretty simple - 10 answers for each. I am ashamed to say I missed one of the Canadian ones headbonk.gif so my score was 19 out of 20.

Good luck-and have a great day!

I got 16 outta 20 - I messed up the CDN Anthem lyrics by reading the question incorrectly.. so that one wrong answer doesn't count eh smile.gif

I didn't take the quiz, but just stopped by to wish all of my neighbours to the North a wonderful Happy Canada Day.
God keep your land glorious and free!

Ugh - I missed 6 on Emancipations' CBC quizz - although to be honest, most of the ones I missed dealt with news and sports events that happened in Canada this last year - and I haven't lived there since 2004. Still, I knew it was a toss up between Margaret Atwood and Hugh MacLennanan - and went with the wrong one :-(. Thanks, Emancipation!
Krikit
Awwww. Thanks Nagi. smile.gif

I'll take the quizzes later. My head's too fuzzy at the moment. lol
MissStacey
Thanks Nagi!!

Happy Canada Day!

(A little blue for Quebec...and B.C....in more ways than one. Hee, hee.)

What an embarrassment. blush.gif
I, too got more right about the U.S. than Canada.
Mixed up facts in my pea brain I guess.
Upon seeing the correct answers, the only one I didn't truly know was about the Canadian author.

I'd like to write up my own version of CDN/U.S. knowledge.
Please stand by...ha!

Canadian questions -- 6/10

American questions -- 10/10

That's not much of a surprise, really. I thought the U.S. history questions were incredibly easy, but then again, I know a lot about my own country. Obviously, I know a little less about Canada. tongue.gif

I think it's become the "norm" for Canadians to actually know more about the U.S. than Canada (or at least both equally). At the end of that quiz, it says that many Canadians are having the same issues, where they can recognize American history but have trouble with Canadian history. I'd have to imagine that's due to the American media being so prevalent and vocal.

After all, I'm sure quite a few Canadians could at least somewhat recognize the names of former U.S. presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln or Franklin D. Roosevelt. How many Americans could pick a Canadian Prime Minister's name out of a lineup? Probably not too many.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!! This will be my last one living here so it's extra special!!

(On a Canadian two dollar bill, the flag flying over the Parliament building is an American flag.) False - here is the snopes article about this one: http://www.snopes.com/business/money/redensign.asp

(Saturday mail delivery in Canada was eliminated by Canada Post on February 1, 1969!) good - your answer specifies Saturday mail - the question only says ' mail delivery' hehehe

(The province of Alberta, Canada is completely free of rats.) well, they are sure working on it - still get about a dozen calls a year on rat sightings but there is an aggressive anti-rat campaign http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/20...331_rats_2.html

Yep knew the $2 bill one wasn't true as I remember hearing about that a long time ago. I did not know there wasn't any or barely any rats in Alberta. How did they manage to pull that off? I assume it's because of the freezing cold weather probably kills them too fast or something...

Just got back from the Embassy festivities and let me tell you, you CAN eat too much poutine! helpsmilie.gif
thetreble
damn! I miss poutine!

I got 19/20. I took American history at university though, one course that is, so I know a little bit about where I live now. I know my Canada though.
Earmuffs
i got 2 right and those were guesses..
Krikit
I got the same as Kathryn.... 9/10 for the Canadian trivia and 10/10 for the American. The sad part is that I can't remember which one I got wrong. I think it may have been the constitutional monarchy question. Bad Krikit. headbonk.gif
IR5FORMUMSIE
10/10 for Canadian Qs and 10/10 for American Qs, now if I could only remember what day it is. laughing.gif

BTW, for the CBC quiz I got 16/20 which OK since I don't watch the news and spend most of my time watching the Playboy Channel. devil.gif

Daly
5/10 canadian
6/10 american.

ahh... shame. I dunno about you guys, but this is my first canada day in US. (First week in US actually.) Ironically, my SO is taking me to Fuddruckers (was a huge part of my childhood growing up before the chain closed up in my hometown.) I'm wondering if I can make a poutine there somehow. ;_;

And I do have to try to answer Spirit Alight's survey... Does any of Britney's or Micheal Jackson's marriages count? biggrin.gif

Happy Canada Day!
I want to go back to visit my friends there, but no AP approved yet. A little sad.

I have heard that Alberta has rat patrol at the borders. Whether this is actual fact- I don't know.

I don't think Alberta has cockroaches either. I have never seen one or heard of them there.

Man- what a difference from Louisiana- I never know what type of creepy crawly I will face here.

I have heard that Alberta has rat patrol at the borders. Whether this is actual fact- I don't know. Yeah, they do - it is a pretty impressive all-out war on rats. I don't know about cockroaches.

Man- what a difference from Louisiana- I never know what type of creepy crawly I will face here. Oh tell me about it - and Lousiana is worse than Georgia!
