David97230
Hello all,

I just lodged on to this site and joined. I hope to find hope here in this long and confusing process and wait time.

I was living and working in Japan got married on 03/27/06 and moved back to the US and got a good job as to support my wife, and filed my I-130 this month, (You should be able to check my time line..)

I hope the wait is not as long as some places I've read. I have read from other web places that it can take 2+ years to be with my wife again.. Please tell me that was just an error..

I have sent TO: USCIS

I-130 Petition for Alien Relative and G-325A Biographic information.

1.) Payment of $355.00 made payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security

2.) Passport style photos (2 each) of both petitioner and Alien Relative with name
printed on back.

3.) Completed form I-130 + Attachment sheet + Affidavits that bona fides our marriage
as per the “Documents Needed to Prove Family Relationship” in the I-130 instructions.
(held with a green paper clip)

4.) Copy of petitioner’s current U.S. passport as proof of U.S. citizenship.
(held with a red paper clip)

5.) Copy of Alien Relative current Japanese passport
(held with a yellow paper clip)

6.) Birth Certificate (Japanese) and translation Japanese to English for Alien Relative.
(held with a blue paper clip)

7.) Marriage Certificate (Japanese) and translation (Japanese to English)

Welcome, David!

Just keep busy and the time will come sooner than you think. But do read up on everything (all the stages and what you need to do) and be prepared.

Here are some of my tips, if you'll allow me to share:

1) Prepare your proof/evidence of your on-going relationship --and establish new ones. No gaps.
2) Don't say that a relative introduced you two, even if it is truthful.
3) keep a copy of everything that you send in terms of paperwork, cover letters, etc.
4) Save all flight tickets, payment stubs, anything at all that relates to your relationship.
5) You really don't know which route your application will take -the I-130 or the I-129F (if you choose to file one). Each one will require you to very different things.
6) Paying online is a big time saver, once your paperwork gets to the NVC (National Visa Center).

Lastly, enjoy living like a slob as a man (I do!) until your wife joins you! smile.gif

GOOD LUCK!

I bumped you earlier with the hope that (if you were closer to the top) someone who knew more about your situation, would respond.

Good Luck. (and don't get messy now, hard habit to break...lol)
