Hi I have a friend who's passport expired. He can get it right away but doesn't think it will be here in time for his trip to Jamaica with my husband. The trip is on July 17th. Does he have a chance? What is the fastest possible way to ship with money being no object? And don't ask me why he waited to look until last night. Any help would be great full and depreciated. wacko.gif

Thanks luv.gif

What country is it coming from? Hmmm, it will be cutting it close, but if he were to have it sent ASAP through Fedex, UPS, or DHL then he could still receive it in time. It takes about 7-10 days for us to receive things through Fedex from Liberia.

He is from Ghana. Which one do you suggest?

I will let him now about Fed Ex then. Do you know how much it will cost?

Know my husband tells me there is no way he has to send a picture to Africa and then his dad can get it done that day but has to get it back here to the USA by July 16th cause they leave on the morning of the 17th. I wish he could send a passport photo via email but that would never fly. Thanks.

Oops, I thought the passport was already processed. In that case...I don't think it can get done in time. I don't know how long it takes in Ghana, but in Liberia the typical wait time for a passport is at least 3 weeks. That is if the person processing it is in a good mood.

Hopefully, someone with better knowledge of Ghanaian procedures can give you a better answer.

I just found this:

These are the current rates for getting a passport in Ghana.
50,000 cedis (US $6.25) - Waiting Period: 1 month. (This is the "official" rate.)
500,000 cedis (US $62.50) - Waiting Period: 1 week.
1,000,000 cedis (US $125) - Waiting Period: 1 day.

So it IS possible to get it done in a day there. I guess now it just depends on how soon he can get his photo there.

Also, here is different information from the Ghanaian embassy in Washington, D.C.

Well, they have an emergency passport application at the Gambian embassy. He might be in luck.

Thanks a lot. I just heard the G and stated flying to VJ to check for him. I will email all this information to him and beat down his door later to make sure he checked his email. LovinLiberia your wonderful I really appreciate it. I have one friend here from Liberia and he is the greatest. I can't thank you enough. star_smile.gif whistling.gif

This will mean a lot to my hubbies friend if he can get his passport in time. He worked in Jamaica 4 years ago and was looking forward to going. Trust me all I have heard is about how much fun they are going to have.
