Alright, I'm getting pretty fed up with my current job at a manufacturing company. I've been working on the shift where my husband is the supervisor. I'm always working on the difficult jobs and am frustrated because, well, ###### it, they're not paying me any more than the lazy guy who gets to sit around and put a part in a box once an hour, ya know?

I'd like to send out a resume and cover letter to just about anything here in town but I'm not sure how to phrase it in the cover letter.
Also, I was in college so my job history isn't that great. Mostly 6 months here and there, whatever fit my schedule at the time.
My last job in Belgium was as a receptionist. I would love to do something like that again.
Problem is, I don't have any references. I never bothered to ask before I left my last job, since it was just a student job really and I've only been there for 6 months.


OK, I'm going to think about this some more. My post doesn't quite make sense right now but I'm exhausted and stressed out thinking about this.

Just Google "resume" and there are all sorts of sites available, many free, that can give you ideas and templates for resumes. I know monster.com has some, but there are lots to choose from.

You should try regisering with an agency. Alot of companies are using temporary agencies to locate quality employees. Agencies are more interested in the results of the tests they give you. They are more understanding about references and spotty employment history. They are a great way to get experience and build a resume. And often lead to full-time permenant work too.

I just feel like I could do alot better if someone would just give me a chance! But I guess even receptionists require a degree of some sort to work here. What is up with that?
I'm a hard worker, I really am, I've done shitty jobs before but at least I was treated with respect. I'm sick of being treated like I'm a retard just because I'm working at a factory. It was the only place in town I could get in since we didn't have a car at the time.
But anyway, I have my learner's permit now and I'm slowly learning to drive (and not to apply the brakes too harshly ) and as soon as I have my license, I'll go to the placement agencies.
It's just so hard right now, I feel like I should stick this out but I have no chance of getting promoted and honestly, I can't see myself doing this forever. I AM better than this.

I know what you mean about every job seeming to require a degree, but in many cases they are just trying to screen out people just out of high school, or those with no experience. Most receptionist jobs do not need a degree from what I've seen though, so keep looking and don't give up!
