I can't help but laugh each time I see anyone mention the pineapple club here so now I'll have to explain....
In Charleston, SC you can find many pineapple fence posts like this (and other structures) and while taking a carriage tour around the historic district there a few years ago, I got to hear the story of how the pineapple fence posts came to be popular there.....
When the men went away to war and left the women home, the women took lovers until their husbands returned.... when their husband returned, a woman would put a pineapple on her fence post as a signal to her lovers not to come-a-knockin' because her hubby was there!!
I HOPE that's not why you ladies chose this name

I have an antique bedroom set (was my grandfather's) that has pineapples on the bed posts! My parent's have it right now in their attic. Maybe one day we'll have room for it and I'll be able to post a picture of it.
