Hi, My green card expired on June 23 2008. I didn't know that I had 90 days to submit all of my documents for removing condition on the greencard. I thought I had to wait until the last day my green card expired. That's why I sent out my whole package on June 20 by USPS express next day. The package was delivered on Sat Jun 21. I think they gonna check out my mail on Monday Jun 23. Is it considered as late? Can anyone help me? I belive that I should be fine cause they received my application before my green card decline. My wife is worry very much and she makes me worry about that too. Thanks a lot for all your help.

You should be ok - you actually filed on time - before your card expired.

wow thannks for the reply milimelo. I feel a little bit better now. Hope they gonna cash my check and I'll be good to go. Thanks again.

Wow, that was a close one! You should be fine. I'd make sure to save the signature receipt.

You are on time. But I think CIS manual says about some grace period for I-751; too many people forget the exact deadline (2 years is a long time).

Hi everyone. Thanks a lot for all the reply. I just wonder how long does VSC usually take to cash your check? I sent them a Bank of America check and the check is not cashed yet. As I said before the package was received on Saturday June 20. Thanks a lot everyone and wish everyone luck with your application.

The date postmarked is considered the date filed for the 90 day limit. So, you just made it.

If anyone is wondering when their green card expires, they should look at their card. It has that date listed.

It generally takes 10 business days for the center to cash your check. You should receive an extension letter within two weeks giving you a year extension on your current green card. Make sure you hang onto that letter. You will be receiving another letter about your biometrics appointment. That letter will have your new case number on it. The number on your extension letter is not the case number.

Wonder if there is a good market for a I-751 "alarm clock"?

Ha, also when you receive your first green card, do a diary on your address, employment, and the trips you have taken outside of the USA that lasted over 24 hours if you plan on applying for citizenship. Kind of difficult to remember all that stuff after five years.

fixed that for you... good.gif if you are married to a US citizen you only need to wait 3 years to apply for citizenship after becoming a permanent resident (conditional or not)
