hi i think this is a stupid question but oh well just curious,
hi there guyz, can you bring dried fish like tuYo? in your baggage? going to US? ty

Hannah+Vito

found this on embassy site hope it helps.

5. What about taking food with me to the U.S.?
U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations prohibit tourists from bringing fresh, dried, and canned meats and meat products from most foreign countries. If any meat is used in preparing a product, it is prohibited. Bakery items and all cured cheeses are admissible. Imported foods are also subject to requirements of the Food and Drug Administration and may be seized upon inspection if, in the opinion of the FDA, they pose any health risk of any kind. Please check the Department of Agriculture's list of approved products!

If you are not sure, if you can bring a certain product, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the Department of Agriculture will be able to assist you. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ thats the site they linked to didn't work when cutting and pasting the info from embassy

Use electric skillet and fix it outside the house. That's what I do whenever I want to fix something that will surely stink the house. good.gif Just be aware that the neighbors may call the city health department and report stinky odor coming from your house to their houses. biggrin.gif

I would hide it in your jeans to take it on the plane rofl.gif

Yeap, RULE #1 in my house is NO DRIED FISH to be cooked inside biggrin.gif. laughing.gif No cooking unless you go outside and chase other people away laughing.gif

I worked at comcast and I went to a vietamesses (sp) house, he had like a small cover and had a full stove on the outside of his kitchen so he could cook the fish smile.gif I thought that was great, He even said it smells up the house laughing.gif
that is why he put the a second stove on the outside smile.gif

I've been a commercial fisherman and thought I was tough and could handle BAD odors.
Wrong! When my wife started frying daing I HAD to bail out.
New rule! No cooking daing in the house. Mabango+++++++++.

my husband hates the smell... biggrin.gif

We had a dirty kitchen in the Philippines, my fiance and house-girl would cook till their heart's delight but the smell still come through to the main house.

During this time, I took the opportunity to teach her to cook a western menu, i.e. pot roast, beef stew, oven baked and roasted chicken, pasta sauce...

When she arrived here, we basically don't fry anything, so we don't eat much filipino food whistling.gif except for a soup base menu.

However, there is a can of Bangus in the pantry, since March, that I know she is drooling to have but I keep reminding her that it's just a tease hahahaha

dang duce! your repressing her Pinoy heritage!!!! j/k I dunno bout yall but after years of living in Southeast Asia I for myself prefer the food above all others...especially and no disrespect to my wife and all the Pinoys in this forum but the food from West Sumatra Indonesia...Padang to be exact according to my pallette is the best!!! That being said I also really love my wifes cooking. We have a dirty kitchen at our house in the phils as well and I must say the only time the smell infiltrates the rest of the house is when my mom n law makes bagoong.....but its worth it cuz she makes some killer bagoong!!! Has anyone attempted to build a "dirty kitchen" at there homes in the States...(depending on how long we stay in the States I was considering building one), i want to re-create a lil asian paradise in the back yard so might as well include a dirty kitchen...hehehehe. anyone done that or do they just stick to the electric skillets???
I luv my chappara
I like tuyo too star_smile.gif
I bought marinated bangus (milkfish) in Asian Market... deliciouso smile.gif
no problem in cooking inside the house (use dehumidifier)
ED*Riza
i Have not cooked dried fish in our house yet but one time my husband and I were in filipino party and i got some fried dried fish and my husband did not notice in our plate and I noticed him smelling so I asked him what it is? he taught it was the little puppy near and when I showed him it was my dried fish he said oh.. how can u eat that??? I said it is yummy... lol

Anyway He said he will allow me to cook it maybe just outside the house and I understand that..
iloveyou16
