It has been six months after filing N-400 ihave not received finger prints, I made a info pass and went to immigration office and the lady told me that she dont understand why i was not finger printed. But every time i call 1800 number they tell me they have my finger prints. and they are waiting on background check which is not true, I call again today and talked to senior officer and he was surprised too why i am getting this letter and responses. But the problem is this this i know for sure i can wait for another ten years and my case will not move forward unless i get fingerprinted.
The problem is this when immigration office send a request to servicee center lazy people see it on computer and that i am waiting for back ground check they send me this letter

I have the same experience as yours.
Mine has not been that long yet, please see my timeline. But i started worrying after a month as there was any FP notice. According to member's timeline here, I called and had info pass early on June. IO says the same thing that I am not required for FP and quering for the interview as my previous FP is still valid. I am not convincing as I have never heard that the process will be completed without the FP and background check.

I am atleast knowing that you are having such a same problem. I hope that USCIS does not make any errors that slow our case down.

It is very frustrate to keep looking out for information about the case and you did not get whether the answer is true or not.

All I can do is to wait and make info pass if I do not hear anything further from them.

Please let me know how is yours going..

Thanks a lot for sharing

So you paid 80 bucks for fingerprints, and they don't need them? To date have spend 400 bucks for fingerprints, well four with blurred photographs, 675 bucks using the standard IRS rate for transportation, and several hundred dollars in lost wages, they don't take prints on a weekend or especially a holiday. Didn't the FBI really check you out when you first came here? That 13 month delay was understandable, but they got another 1,600 bucks out of us for work and travel papers not including travel. Our I-751 had also lots of consequential expenses due to their delays, called the IRS, none of this is tax deductible.

What we need in this capitalistic is two immigration services with competitive rates and services. But that is also history when Reagan and his cronies killed the Sherman Act, now we got a computer industry controlled by one little high school drop out nerd that is very selfish. Ha, and he claims needs more foreigners when he was responsible for laying off over 20,000 American software engineers but he once illegal takeovers. God, we need to get this country back on track, was a damned good country at one time.

We had the same situation. When we filed for removal of conditions in late Dec 2006, we had our fingerprints taken shortly afterwards around Jan 2007. We then filed the N-400 in Early Jan 08 and never received another biometrics notice till May 08. I talked to an USCIS employee and she mentioned that she thought that biometrics were valid for 15 months, which kind of matches our timeline. So if we happened to get through the N-400 process, start to finish before the 15 months lapsed since our 751 biometrics, we may not have needed the additional biometrics for the N-400. The USCIS seems to always collect the fee.

Marilyn and Peter.

1/05/08 - N-400 sent to NSC
1/10/08 - NSC cashes check
1/16/08 - Received NOA1 for N-400. Notice (NOA1) states we should expect to be notified within 450 days. Glad that fee increase gave us the results the USCIS promised!
5/8/08 - FINALLY received biometrics notice for 5/20/08. The USCIS website still does not acknowledge our service center number though and I cannot track any touches or updates. We have also found out that we cannot use the 800 number because it asks for our service center number and since it isn't registered, it hangs up on us.
5/20/08 - Biometrics completed at Denver. In and out in 15 minutes.
6/6/08 - Received interview letter today for Friday, July 11, 2008 @ 10:30am in Denver.

Let me think for a second, if you apply for the ten year card after the two year permanent conditional card (whatever that means), then apply for the three year citizenship both at the earliest exact time. Precisely one year would go by between the two applications that is also exactly 12 months. Both times we got the notice to go to Milwaukee while our field office is in St. Paul, well not really, it's in Bloomington, MN.

Isn't twelve months shorter than fifteen months, ha didn't have to look up the location the second time, remembered how to find it the first time, except the second time, our interstate exit was closed for maintenance so had to drive 3 miles further north, then zigzag back and forth through Milwaukee traffic.

When we got there, the field office was deserted, so maybe they sent us down to give those bored people something to do, who does know the reason? But we kept one guy busy for five minutes after nine hours of driving time.

NickD,
When I was told that there was no requirement for the FP, as it was still valid I was not really thinking about the 80.00 fee back. I was a kind of hoping it would be just gone through the process as normal timeline.

hotairguy,
I had the same answer as well, that my previous FP would vaild for 13 months. From your shared experience which is very helpful to me, I am now looking forward to hearing from USCIA by AUG or SEP if I will get the FP apointment. I don't think that our case would go by directly to the interview process without having a complete FP.
Your timeline makes sense in case that our case get to take off after previour FP expired.
Look like we happened to be the unlucky ones who have to wait and wonder if the case was processing correctly.

Btw CONGRATULATIONS to your IL!

From looking at these posts, I dont feel too bad about my situation. We got a biometrics letter within a few short weeks of filing our N-400. I assumed that since we were not told my wife cleared the FBI check within 15 minutes, there may be a problem.

But it looks like the problem is actually getting a biometrics appointment to begin with. Well, its ONE problem among many with the USCIS. I sat and thought about it, and I have basically decided that since my wife does have her 10 year green card, we will no longer limit our plans for the future.

It would be good if she gets her passport before the end of the year, but if she does not, were still going to Canada. The complete and total collapse of America will most likely happen shortly after the November elections, and we plan to be long gone by then.

Thought I would give my two cents... It has been 7 months since I sent my N-400 and I haven't had a biometrics appointment yet... I talked to three different officers during this time.. The first told me I was in the system and no letter had been sent (i.e. be patient)... the second told me that my biometrics from the I-751 were valid for 15 months and that my N-400 was close to being approved... the third told me they wouldn't touch my N-400 until my I-751 had been approved...

Well it is about 15 months since I had the biometrics for the I-751 and they ordered my card for production four days ago (I am guessing that means it was approved)... Too bad I won't be able to figure out which officer was telling the truth...

I didn't bookmark this article in the USCIS site, if I bookmarked every article in the USCIS site would have to buy another 500 GB drive for my computer. But this was in regards to the biometrics whether it was COLLECTED or not, still cost them a lot of money to store and retrieve the fingerprints even for that 15 month period, so the 80 buck fee will stay in effect even if they elect to use your previous collected fingerprints.

So much for the 80 buck fee, still have to pay that, but it would be nice if you were informed on your NOA instead of the NOA telling you to expect a biometrics appointment soon.

So much for government efficiency, in the 50's were able to build an entire interstate system on a nickel a gallon for gas tax, today can't even plow the winter snows with 50 cents a gallon tax. So not only in the USCIS.
