QUOTE(Neya @ Jun 18 2006, 05:06 PM)

Question for you all....
I sent a letter to both of my Senators regarding this whole situation May25th. On Friday I got a letter from Senator #1 who contacted USCIS. The OMB pulled my application and told the senator my application was submitted on the 19th of May(actually it was the 2nd of May). The letter then went on to state about the new form that is coming and the pending RFE's etc. Then on Friday I got a call from Senator #2 asking if there was anything they could do to help.
Here is my question. In contacting them I did not ask for help with my application specifically. I just asked if they could get some answers for me. I did not include my case number but yet USCIS looked at my case and gave Senator #1 my (wrong) petition date. I'm hoping I haven't sh*t canned myself in contacting the senators. Is this possible? I'm concerned about "additional security checks or name hits" or whatever it is called.
Next, I am to call Senator#2 back on Monday with any additional concerns. If I have screwed myself
should I go for the full Monty and have Senator#2 contact USCIS/OMB. I'm inclined to have #2 not make any inquires on my behave at this time until I need them later.
What do you guys think?

WOW - how did you get such fast and helpful service from the Senator's office? It took them weeks to call me (also IL) and when they finally did the person was not helpful at all.
Anyway, contacting the Senator's office isn't going to cause trouble for you if that's what you are worried about. And since you filed just last month ago, it's much too soon for them to be questioning your case status. It won't hurt to talk to Senator #2 about your concerns - that's part of their job. But you may want to hold off on checking your case until you have reason . . .

Actually I"m an Indiana resident with a LONG...... voting record so maybe that's why I got the fast response.
Or maybe the articles in the papers helped to catch they're attention coupled with my letter..I just don't know. I just got a little nervous when they said the OMB looked at my application....

Do you guys think thereīs any chance these RFEs sent by VSC last week are not about IMBRA?
I think it could be people who would get a RFE anyways, and that would explain the nonsense about the order of NOA1.
Maybe itīs their way to get something done while preparing their staff for the new checks.
Just a thought.

I donīt think they will..
I mean, imagine how many meetings they had to get things sorted.
Obviously they talked about the recalled cases when they made a plan.
There must be a reason why they didnīt touch us yet.. it canīt be just because they forgot about it, or because itīs not on their desk.
Iīm calling them tomorrow but Iīm sure the person whoīll take my call wonīt say anything about it.
Just wondering. For those who actually managed to reach Vermont:
after you enter your receipt number, how can you dial more options to get to Vermont if the automated system tells you to wait for an operator?

I am hoping that things are getting on track here. My case was moved to CSC and since I got my notice that they received my case on June 14 I have been touched every day. I assume that they are going through the cases and figuring out which ones need a RFE. It is in their best intrest to get this RFE stuff over with soon. They have a backlog of 10,000 cases now and they need to get to it as soon as they can or they are going to be buried for a long time with pettitioners and lawmakers on their a$$ the whole time. Call me an optimist but I think they are going to get things rolling soon.

I certainly hope so. I imagine it'll be another week or so before things actually start arriving in the mail. I think for my own sanity I'm going to have to take a step back and give it some time; monitoring the USCIS website every day waiting for movement is driving me nuts.

I wouldn't worry about contacting your senator(s). You're in a govermental process & you had questions. No worries about extra checks, it's your right, esp. with the IMBRA stuff happening.
I contacted my senator as well & am waiting to return a call today, and I'm around the same time as you (5/8). It doesn't matter that it's 45 days or 100, we still deserve to know what's happening. Don't feel bad about that, I've had people jump on me for wondering, as if May apps don't have that right.

Hey Gary! Hope you and Luz had a great reunion!
At the very least, some people from Vermont will be getting the RFE's this week, so we will at least know what information they will be asking for. Though I am fairly certian it will just be a questionnaire re how you met. I DO hope CSC starts mailing things out soon though!

If its any reassurance to those who met on the internet, but NOT a marriage broker, I had my successful K1 interview Friday June 16. We originally submitted in February 2006, so I know this puts me out of the timeline but.... We were very open in all our letters and during the interview that we met playing an online role playing game in 2003 (no, not WOW for those who are into that) and the guy took some notes but they were more timeliney things than ooo no the INTERNET. When I say notes I mean he wrote a couple of dates down on a file folder. He wanted to know a bit about the game, which we told him. It may have helped that I had the sponsor/bf/fiance guy there with me, as he drove up from Massachesetts to Montreal. So unless they somehow decide now I can't have it, I am expecting to receive it in the mail this week. I know that's not much solace to those who got their interview yanked!

Thanks to everyone who have answered any of my questions that I've posted. I'm somewhat new on here, so I have more questions to ask. Will everyone who filed after March 8 receive an RFE? Even if the female is the petitioner? Does it matter if you met each other in person or on the internet? Does anyone have any idea when they RFE's will be mailed to any of the other servicing centers? And one more...sorry about all of the questions. I've read a few responses about the processing dates going in order of when the RFE's are completed and mailed in. Is this true, or is it still based off the original NOA1 date? I'm sorry if these are all questions people have already answered. I've tried to read as many of the postings as possible, but there is just so much information! Thanks again for your help!

All those who got an NOA1 of March 6 or later will get one (eventually).
Even if the female is the petitioner?
Yes.
Does it matter if you met each other in person or on the internet?
It matters only if you used a marriage broker or the USC has applied for a K1 previously or has a serious criminal record.
Does anyone have any idea when they RFE's will be mailed to any of the other servicing centers?
The RFE's will come FROM the centers, and they have already started mailing them.
And one more...sorry about all of the questions. I've read a few responses about the processing dates going in order of when the RFE's are completed and mailed in. Is this true, or is it still based off the original NOA1 date?
It gets muddy here. In theory they will be processing and forwarding March petitions before April and so forth, but noone knows for sure.

Hello. Everyone who filed after march 6 will get an RFE because this was the day the IMBRA was supposedly implemented. i guess at this point it wont matter whether you have met personally or online or thru a marriage broker. i think that the new RFE's are not strictly for men only. based on the new I-129-F form i am assuming that the RFEs will cover questions on how you met, if you have used a marriage broker as well as any criminal history that you may have and the neccessary paperwork to support your claims. As for the order in which these RFEs are being sent out, apparently there is no specific order. all we know for now is that some people from vermont have already been notified that their RFE is on the way. some earlier, some later... I hope this helps answer your questions somehow.

After 92 pages, I believe someone that followed the whole discussion from the beginning should point out some achievements or conclusions....
Stuff like: does IMBRA, so far, affected everyone in general or just couple that met online, or with the beneficary from specific country, or again in which the petitioner (US Citizen) is male?
