I'm flying to the UK on July 26th and the ticket is booked in my married name, although my passport is still in my maiden name (I planned to set up a premium one day appointment to get the name changed on my passport while in London, don't want the ticket in my maiden name as that doesn't match my greencard and don't want issues with USCIS when I re-enter the US!)

I was fine with this until I started to read a few posts and now I'm stressed there will be an issue as my passport and name on the ticket don't match, even though I have my marriage certificate to validate it. Now my time is rather limited, I'm wondering if I should send my passport to Washington asap and hope they get the change done in the next 4 weeks or just risk it?

Any advice from others who have done the same?? Any ideas on how long the embassy take for this? I could go to DC if that speeds it up!

When we travelled, my husband had booked the tickets in my married name, but my passport was in my maiden name. We called the airline to ask if that was alright and they just told me to take my marriage certificate and some photo ID with my married name on it. I had no problems at all. Don`t know how long it would take to get your passport back from Washington sorry.

I think I did things slightly differently, I've only gone back to the UK once since I got married, changed name and got my Greencard. I actually booked the flight in my maiden name, took the Passport, Marriage Certificate and GC with me for return to the US. There were no issues upon re-entry, the agent just told me not to forget to remove conditions! Which my sweetie and I successfully did a few months after my trip back home!
