My SO has applied to remove conditions to obtain 10 year card. I have been trying to make this work but what I have found this morningM I can't continue.

Does anyone know what I need to do to cancel sponsoring him? I don't have his immigration # since he has hidden everything, will I be able to cancel my sponsorship. I plan to see a lawyer ASAP but hope to get that cancelled without having to use immigration lawyer.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

5 ways that I-864 sponsorship is dropped.
  • Immigrant dies.
  • Sponsor dies.
  • Immigrant leaves the USA and abandons residency status.
  • Immigrant works and is credited with 40 quarters of work.
  • Immigrant naturalizes and becomes a US citizen.

Only thing you can do at this point is contact USCIS and explain situation and perhaps this may affect removal of conditions processing.

This equates at minimum to 10 years, however to be credited with a quarter of work the person needs to be paid more than $1050 in a 3 month period, or $4200 per year.

The following types of intending immigrants do not need to file this form:

Any intending immigrant who has earned or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters (credits) of work in the United States. In addition to their own work, intending immigrants may be able to secure credit for work performed by a spouse during marriage and by their parent(s) while the immigrants were under 18 years of age. The Social Security Administration (SSA) can provide information on how to count quarters of work earned or credited and how to provide evidence of such. See the SSA website at www.ssa.gov/mystatement/credits for more information;

So sorry to hear this. Although you are still responsible for the I-864--I do believe that if get divorced--and let the USCIS know--then at least his current application to remove conditions could be voided and he would have to reapply again. So that could at least slow down his removal of conditions--but he can do it on his own.

ther you go wait until he becomes citizen in a yr or so. or its 10 yr commit.

Thanks for all the info and advice. I plan to focus on my divorce and he can worry with the rest. I just need peace and freedom from this situation.
