I posted this is my K3 forum but would like to know how the Bangkok embassy is... and any good advice is welcome too!

I've been told by a visa attorney that a copy of the '07 return is okay. I have tax transcripts for the 3 years prior sent to my wife in Thailand.
Has anyone had a problem with a copy of the current year tax return?

Obviously, the original is in the IRS vortex somewhere...
Anybody have an origan doc request problem at the interview in Bangkok?

Being as you won't ever see the original (and there may be none anyway if you filed electronically), a copy will be just fine, as long as you have your tax transcripts to prove the account was actually paid.

That's sort of like somebody asking for your original birth certificate. Don't think you'll ever get to take that home, either.

When Rin had her interview I had not yet filed 2006 taxes. I gave them the 2003-2005 transcripts and a draft copy of my 2006 taxes along with a copy of my w-2s. The documents are in support of the I-134 so they need to verify income, the transcripts and w-2's verify income; a completed tax return printed out from Turbotax, Taxcut, etc, does not.
