Full Version: Documentation to petition mother?

Well, my mother in law has now been denied a tourist visa for the 5th time for failure to prove "sufficient ties." We were hoping the fact that my wife is now a citizen would make a difference, but evidently not. The IO told her "I'm disapproving this. If you want to go, just have your daughter petition you." What an idiot! We didn't want to bring her as an immigrant, that's why we were trying to get her a tourist visa.

Anyway, we have now given up the tourist visa, and are going to petition her. Not because of what the IO said, but because it seems to be the only way to get her here.

I'm looking through the documentary requirements to petition a parent, and it doesn't really give a list. I infer from the instructions that we need to include:

1. Copy of petitioner's birth certificate listing beneficiary as mother.
2. Copy of marriage certificate that changed petitioner's name.
3. Copy of naturalization certificate that proves petitioner's citizenship.

I can not see any requirement to provide identifying info for the beneficiary, such as birth certificate or passport, and I find that strange.

For those of you who have petitioned for a mother, what documentation did you include? Am I missing something?
