I feel you will be much further ahead, if you do not call. Like waiting in a line and sneaking up just one person ahead of you, get caught and they send you to the rear of the line.

ahhhHHHh nick how r ya? long time no talk..i have found an actual forum that has tons NYC people on it with my exact experience and they not only call IOs but they also contacted the president and mayors/first lady/ they have done wayyyy more then i even did. they have got their IL this week so i doubt that they will be doing me at the end of the line(atleast i hope not) anyways i did read on this forum someone said something about 45 days but not remembering it properly so i asked a new post.

Don't you have to wait for anything in NYC? Can you go to your post office and buy a book of stamps in less than 30 seconds. And what about all those red, yellow, and green lights that are always red at every street intersection. Ha, my wife wonders I get impatient if just one person is ahead of me in the check out lane, she shopped in Caracas, I was there, more like 20 people ahead of you in line. We went to her bank, had to wait four hours before our turn came to make an account adjustment I can do here in less than five minutes. If that wasn't bad enough, had to come back the next day and wait another two hours just to pick up a piece of paper.

That is what drove me out of Chicago spending 36 hours a week just traveling back and forth to my job and I was beat. Course, not sure why I am living here, can drive for over an hour and see nothing but trees to the next town. Did take my wife to State Street in Chicago, same old Made in China crap we can buy here, but the prices were twice as high. Really bad in San Francisco.

I guess you have to expect your USCIS office to be the same way and the government workers there are hundred more times as rude. They are kind of rude here too, after I personally paid my property taxes, asked the clerk why she didn't say thank you, Wal-Mart does if I spend only 39 cents. Feel the problem is our leaders and government workers let that bit of power we gave them go through their heads, and they forgot our US Constitution basic principle that it is their job to SERVE the people and not to treat us as trash.

I do have to take a nice pill before walking into the field office with my wife, and like our comedians, make jokes and laugh. Ha, is this office really a target for terrorists? Why the guns and the search before we can walk in? Is there anything here of value you are not telling us? LOL, what do you do with that portrait of Bush after he leaves office, I can use that to cover a hole in my outhouse. Gee, I have been giving better chairs to Goodwill then you have here, maybe I should bring those here instead, LOL. Will I get arrested for indecent exposure if my pants fall down after I give you my belt, LOL.

My brain does not comprehend wait 45 days and call back in 3 weeks, insufficient and conflicting data. If I were to attempt to reason that out, would probably blow a fuse.

If the USCIS doesn't know, how would anyone here know? The officer that fingerprinted my wife didn't know what happen to the first two sets. And I asked in a jokingly manner. Ha, some things I do not joke about, like with the guards, does the USCIS have a physical fitness requirement for that job? Ha, talk about pot bellies, I saw vat sized bellies, LOL.

That means that if you don't hear back from them or get your IL within 45 days to call back and ask again. I think this is a little game they like to play so that it shows that every 45 days when you call, a request is put through for your case. I contacted the Ombusdman and Congress office to help me with the I751 and from the Ombudsman (spelling?) office I received a letter stating that I should contact them if I don't hear from USCIS within 45 days. A week later I got a letter from USCIS stating that my case was under review and to contact them if I don't hear from them within 45 days from the date on this letter. This is "the 45 day game" we played for awhile until I got tired of asking and decided to get my Citizenship. I guess that meant that USCIS won part of the game but not the battle.

Didn't you post you received your green card when you were three years old and that you married an alien five years ago? If so, why did it take you so long to apply for citizenship? It was also a lot cheaper back then.

An alien is a person from a different country or from outer space, but the haven't found too many of those yet.

1. (n.) Alien: A person coming from another country:
• foreigner
• nonnative
• guest
• immigrant
• newcomer
• outlander
• outsider
• refugee
• stranger
• visitor
• émigré

An I-130 is a petition for an alien relative, who filed that petition for your husband? Has to be done by a US Citizen to bring them here. I thought you were after your US citizenship so you could file the I-130 for him. But that comes with a high price tag, besides filing the I-130, you have to prove to the USCIS that you can properly support that person with the I-864.

With the I-751 stuff, if I wanted to start a business to bring aliens into this country with fraudulent ID's and the ability to hack into government databases to install those false records, I would have to charge at least a million bucks to make a living at it, and if that person had a million bucks to come here, they wouldn't need to marry some American slob to come here. Money is power and they can come here freely whenever they feel like it. That is why I feel the I-751 process is so stupid. And if you did marry a person to bring them for the sole purpose of bringing them here, you are putting that person in a perfect position to blackmail you. With our divorce laws, they can clean you out, put you in jail for five years, take all your money and bring it back to their home country. Then do it again. Wonder if the USCIS really thought this out?

In your case, your posts are loaded with contradictions, so who is actually the crazy one in your family? Hate to get rough, but nothing is making sense. Most of the people on this board are in the same boat, have the same immigration problems, and we are trying to help each other. But if you refuse to give a straight story, nobody here can help you.

Most of us are aware the USCIS process is a very slow painful process and a very expensive one at that. In regards to marrying an alien, had to considered if she was worth it. In my case, was worth every penny.

actually, Nick, permanent residents can file I-130 as well. i wouldn't be surprised if it would take longer for their visa number to become available, though...citizens do have priority when it comes to processing this kind of stuff.

For citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States to establish the relationship to certain alien relatives who wish to immigrate to the United States. Note: A separate form must be filed for each eligible relative. USCIS processes Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, as a visa number becomes available. Filing and approval of an I-130 is only the first step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. Eligible family members must wait until there is a visa number available before they can apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to a lawful permanent resident.

as far as the financial support goes, she can have sponsors.

Hi Flavaofsummer,

Can u tel me which forum are u talking about tat has a lots of NYC people.

Thanks.

Swore my attorney told me that my wife has to get her US citizenship first before she can apply for a petition for her son that is over 18. Maybe I am cracking up, but can dig through a bunch of old letters. Or maybe I should read the instructions myself if I only spoke USCIS, they seem to have a language of their own.

Kind of glad when my grandparents came here, didn't stop in NYC, but took a train to Milwaukee or Chicago, ha, not quite so crowded. But since then, practically all my relatives moved to less crowded areas, we all hate waiting in lines. In another month of so, wife should be a US citizen, but regarding her son, he met a girl down there and doesn't want to leave her. Watch that movie, Troy with a ten year battle over a woman? Ha, should make a movie with a five year battle with the USCIS, over a woman.

Okay, so I am a little slow in catching on, even dense, but finally woke up when I saw this section on this board.

'Bringing family members of Permanent Residents to America"

I Believe that states that permanent residents can petition for aliens to come to this country, right? Otherwise, why would VisaJourney have section titled that?

I though you were applying for US citizenship which is somewhat logical as this is the "US Citizenship General Discussion" of this board. And maybe you are, but also petitioning for an alien, not from outer space but from a different country you prefer not to divulge.

See there are 23 sections in this website, most of which I haven't even ventured into, found the "Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion" site when doing a search when Nebraska slipped back over a year in processing the I-751 wondering what the hell was going on with my wife's and daughter's green cards were about to expire. Bookmarked just that site not even aware that there are other topic sites in VisaJourney. Just found the main topic site recently when applying for US citizenship for my wife. And see that other members of the "Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion" site are here too.

Hi everybody, how is it going?

Are you posting in that 'Bringing family members of Permanent Residents to America" site too?

Part of the learning process, my wife was working for Johnson & Johnson, the BandAid people along with 6,000 other products in Venezuela, an American based company that is shifting their executives all over the world, so when we were getting serious asked who their immigration firm was. They got her and her daughter here okay, but further investigation, they specialize in work visa's. Should have know better than that, as in the business, tax, and patent world, you just don't go to any attorney, but have to find an attorney that deals in a very specialized field. I had no idea that immigration was this complicated, so it seems for getting my wife here, we should be seeking an attorney that specializes in 'Bringing family members of Permanent Residents to America". As I said, I am slow in catching on.

My step son didn't want to come with his mom, was going to a university down there, and while some nasty things can be said about Chavez, his tuition is free and he can eat three meals there for about 30 cents a day and pay 9 cents a gallon for gas, that education here would cost us a huge fortune. He did graduate, but met a girl of his dreams, I met her last year, a real sweetheart. I chat with him and his girl frequently, while we may get him here, would have problems bringing his girl here, always problems.

My kid brother recently married an immigrant, ha, maybe because he met my wife and how wonderful she is, that's just speculation. His wife is a permanent resident and trying to bring one of her kids here and running into the same problems you and everybody else is. My brother's solution is to find a country where they all are welcomed without all this BS.

Ha, maybe we should all move to a different country and leave the USCIS hanging and starving for lack of business. I have heard it can take as long as ten years for a PR to bring a relative here. It's a shame that this country has put laws and regulations ahead of people, are there any New Worlds left? That is why our ancestors came here, to leave all the crap behind, now we got stuck with it.
