My husband didn't sign his copy of income tax return for the year 2007. I'll be submitting this on tuesday on my interview at the USEM. There is a name typewritten on preparer's portion plus his address and SSN or PTIN minus the signature and date. I think he is an atty. I have no time to send this back to him since i got this just one week before my interview. He said not to bother because he already sent a copy to the nvc. I dont know if he means that its ok not to sign because the copy he sent me is just his personal copy. But i think the thing is copy or original it must be signed. Plus the fact that is it to be submitted to the embassy. I'm confused blink.gif .. Could someone enlighten me? Could this be the reason for my visa disapproval? I'm thinking of faking the signature (bad idea??? huh.gif )Pls someone out there..I have only one day left. unsure.gif

i suggest, never sign for ur husband.."you get to falsifying docs or forgery issue--just an advice" i guess u can have the w2s, paystubs..and just sent a copy of explanation from ur husband with his signature and a notarized stamp via scanned email (thats my proposal) not until the consulate asked abt this error ( abt the signature) let it be..then if she comes up with the question show the explanation why husband forgets to sign.. with notarized stamp.. =) prayers..

If they ask tell them this was his file copy and he only signed the one he sent in to the IRS when he filed. They are more interested in the income reported to see if matches what he claims in your affidavit of support.

You will be okay. That's probably because your husband just rendered service of someone who is practiced to prepare income tax return (1040EZ). Also called as preparer.

In our case, my husband had his income tax return prepared by HR BLOCK Enterprise Inc. And my husband has no signature also since it wasn't my husband who prepared his ITR, and paid someone to do that for him, so under his signature there is note of -for information only-.

The signature that appeared in his ITR was his preparer.

Of course, not a good idea to fake any signatures, besides no need to fake any signatures with your husband's ITR.

The important thing that needs original and has your husband signature is the affidavit of support and must be notarized.

ITRS aren't required to be signed. If you are concerned have him fax you a signed copy as fax and scanned copies are accepted.

Mine where not signed that I DHL'ed to my fiancee. I filed electronically and just printed out the copies from my computer. We had no problems at all. Afterall the Affidavit of support is signed and notorized, you should be fine.
