Hi everyone!

My fiance had her interview in HCMC yesterday and was denied. We were introduced by mutual friends that were dating (they met online). Anyhow, I mentioned him in my application, and I think they just want to know more about him. I'm saddened by this, but I think i understand why and so we're confident we'll pass after giving them what else they want.

I had a few questions that I was hoping someone could give me advice on: One of the things they asked for was a list of her family in the US. Do we need to send an *entire* list? Or just the heads of households? And most important, they ask for evidence that is the current address. How the heck do I do that?

In my opinion,

1. List all members in the house. Sex, Age, Cousins, Brother, Sister, Occupation, Address

About your evidence current address, I’m confuse it. Are they ask you for your current address? If it’s, then driver license is your proof.

Some sort of bill in the person's name should work. Like an electric bill, etc.. This is a new one. I would email them and try to verify that though.

thanks Haonie...no, they asked for evidence of her relatives' addresses...it's weird, I know. Hopefully someone knows, or I'll give them a call on Monday.

photo copies of their drivers license should work fine. thats what i read that other have used.

Just 1 member in the house "represent" writes a letter with signature notarize. Here is what they say. I just give you an example.

If it is anything like the one that we got all you need to do is get a list of names, DOB, addresses, phone numbers, and relationship. For proof of residency, you will need to get a copy of everyone listed drivers license or mail addressed to that person. Also, the list will have to be notarized by your fiancée. I recently went through this same thing, or very similar. The only difference is that I had to get a list of all my fiancées family and friends living in the U.S. She should have all of the information in her hands this upcoming Monday and plans to turn it into the consulate either Tuesday or Wednesday. I will let you know how she makes out. Hopefully all will go well this time and she will get her pink slip. I am praying very hard anyway.

I dont know if this can help. i just remember a situation that a person is to submit proof of his relative's existence in the U.S. This is the instruction given. Just trying to help.

I went through the same thing with my fiance, now my wife. I provided everything I could find about her relatives. She only has an Aunt, her Aunt's husband and 4 children. I had to provide their bills, DL, birth certificates..etc. In the end...our case was still denied. I don't see the whole reason behind asking for all that info.

OK, I called the consulate on this and the friendly Vietnamese woman on the line told me:

1. Yes, list *all* relatives that live in the US
2. To provide evidence, a copy of a phone bill, or driver's license is good. Somthing that shows their name and address is all the consulate wants to see.
3. If these relatives are people ur fiancee doesn't know well, nor communicate with with any regularity, please explain that. In those cases its fine if you cannot provide evidence.


HAhaha, my fiancee was getting worried she'd have to call effectively strangers and ask for personal information.

One more thing to add:

I noticed that with the people that gave personal examples, they all had different answers. It looks like the consulate asks for different things in different situations. For me they only requested "Please provide the names and addresses of your relatives in the US. Provide evidence of current address."

OMG, they must truly be insane denying you after providing all of that information. I don't know of too many people willing to give that type of information. I had a problem alone with getting drivers licenses much less Birth Certificates. What did you do after being denied? My fiancée was supposed to get the paperwork I sent her via FedEx today but there seemed to be some sort of delay getting through clearance when it arrived in Vietnam. Seems sort of strange since I have sent numerous envelopes to her via FedEx and they are usually pretty reliable. I am hoping that she gets everything tomorrow so that she can turn it into the consulate on Wednesday or Thursday.
