In other words, when a USC marries a VN National after obtaining a K-1 Visa would the VN Government recognize the marriage. I think they do but I'm having trouble locating the proof on the net.

So let's say a foreigner gives birth in Vietnam , what procedures that nêeded to be done so she can take her kid out of Vietnam ?

I used to have gơod thinkings about the current Vietnamese law system, but after this incident I must re-think about it.

Is it always about the money ?

You may want to call Ellis about it.

I think some of the local governments may still be corrupt. I have no personal experience but I have heard stories.

In you case, must do it before you wife give brith in Vietnam

1. Take your marriage's license to your County, ask them certify the signature on license
2. Then take it to your Capital's State, ask the Secertary's State to certify the County's Signature.
3. Then send it to Vietnam Embassy in DC to verify, and translate to Vietnamese that this document is true.

Make sure you call the Embassy ask for the fee.

When everything is done, your wife take those papers to Vietnam and she will be fine with local government office.

Hope it helps.
