Hi there hopefully someone can help me out ... I am in the understanding that there are only 2 comsulates in Canada that will proccess the K-1 visa .. montreal and vancouver ... I can deal with having to goto montreal but can anyone tell me how far that is from the airport .. we just recieved our NOA1 about a week and a half ago and starting to make plans and i am wondering weather i should drive there or fly i would rather fly but not if i need to do some extensive travelling once i get there ..

my second question is about the affidavit of support ... my fiance's daughter is on her last year as a dependant she turns 18 in november and already has a fulltime job and plans to move ... seeing as i wont be there untill after she's older and gone will they take that into account? My Fiances job is not the best paying one but she made eneough for last year but they moved it to 22,000 for this year for 3 people .. she was just shy of that. does anyone know how they will look at that and should i bank a few thousand to make up the difference ? I have read that you can do that if in readily available funds make up the difference x5 for the 5 years that affidavit covers ?

any help would be appreciated

The Consulate is downtown, on Boul. R.L. There is a bus from the airport that will take you to the downtown.

(Montréal is very easy to navigate, by BMW--bus, Métro, Walk; a rental-car is largely unnecessary. I actually did my GC interview there in 1999)

Hey there smile.gif

You must mean you recieved your NOA2 recently if you had filed in March...the processing times in Montreal are looking slightly long right now - average according to VJ is about 116 days before you get your interview, so you will have plenty of time to look into transportation. But it looks as though it is very doable without a car. I will have to fly in from NB, so I'm glad that city transportation will be available, because with the price of gas, I'd hate to have to drive!

There is a few people on here who do stats for the K-1's - if you have a moment, you should fill in your timeline, I'm sure they would be appreciative!

Ah gotcha smile.gif

Yeah I know all about trying to prepare early...I'm saving the money now because it's gonna cost a fair amount to fly up and back and stay overnight somewhere...Cutting back my spending habits quite a bit smile.gif

So when did you file your paperwork? pop into the timelines forum and chat with other people that filed in your month too...it's nice to have a group of people that are going through the same things as you are at the same time smile.gif

Take care and good luck!

Was just reading this thread from two fellow Canadians....you should pop into the Canada forum here on VJ! Lots of helpful people to help answer specific Canada/US questions! Hope to see you soon and welcome to VJ!
