Well I did receive my NVC case number, and all this time I thought it would be Chennai for us, but its Mumbai.
Anyways, my husband will be coming to India during our interivew (whenever it happens or if it happens), I would like to know, does Mumbai consulate allows the US spouse to be at the interview?
Thanks for the help.

Email the consulate and ask them if they allow. It also depends upon the security folks out there at the entrance. They didn't allow my friend in Chennai, they said if required you'll be called.

A very common mistake people think is that the USC will not be allowed inside the Consulate. As long as a person can prove they are USC, they cannot be stopped to go inside the Consulate.
Being allowed at the interview is very CO specific. If the CO does not want him to attend the interview, he will just be asked to sit in the visitor lounge. By then the CO has already seen him and knows that he put in all the time and effort to be with you at the interview and if he is needed for anything, your husband can be called anytime..
All the best for your interview..
As for writing to the Consulate... I did the same and they said they will not allow Daniel in. As soon as they saw Daniel's US Passport he was allowed in easier than I was.
