After looking at the different visa options for my wife to enter the USA it looks like DCF is the best. We have been married 6 years in Peru, and I have lived here for the same amount of time. I have a Peru resident visa and work offshore around the world for a US company.

We were denied a toursit visa in the past however now we want to live in USA at least 6 months out of the year.

My question is I have about 6 to 7 weeks before I go back to work offshore for 2 months. Is there time to file in Lima Peru using DCF. If I do not need to be at the interview can we get everything done in the next 4 or 5 weeks before I leave or should I wait until after I return.

Looking to have my wife in USA for Christmas. Also we do not own a home in USA since we live in Peru at the moment. However I do work for a US company and file taxes each year.

I will begin with this caveat. Each consulate's procedures vary quite significantly.

My understanding is that the US citizen presence is only required when the petition is submitted (you will need to determine there process for accepting the I-130 petitions). After that stage, it is highly likely that your spouse can handle most if not all the rest of the process including her own visa interview.

I went thru the lima embassy, it took 34 days from start to visa in hand..I will say that I was prepared with every document they might ask for..So it is possible, but everything has to be perfect...Daniel y Meche..
