I just wanna ask those who are already in the US, how long does it take to get a marriage license? What are the requirements?
Thanks a lot!

All depends on where you apply!

in CA, it's quick. After you apply for a license, u need to get married within the period given. then after marriage, ull secure a copy of the marriage license. it will be available a week or more after the wedding. depends also...

Here in Nevada all you need is $35 and you will have your license within 5 mins, then you can go to a drive-thru wedding chapel and call it good.

In Florida you get it the same day you apply. Just bring a valid identification. For us the passport will suffice. We paid about $95.00. It was funny though because they had us read this handbook about getting married in Florida and the contents is 90% about divorce. Not a good thing to read before getting married

Many states require a social security number to get a Marriage Contract/License. With a K1 visa you can go to the local SS office and apply for a SSN berween 14 days after arrival to 76 days.
Some SS offices may need to be reffered to their own website instructions though as they are ignoeant of K1 visas.

by the way, after the wedding, ull receive the MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE right away with the signatures from both of u, the officer who married u and the witness. it is not the LICENSE.

that really made me laugh.
it seems they are already telling would be couple that it is easy to get off the marriage when the going gets rough. and then we wonder why the US has the highest divorce rate.
