My fiance has not done the medical part of the visa process yet but he was at the doctor the other day and found out he has very high blood pressure. I am sure the stress from the visa process has not helped. He is going in Friday for some tests on his heart and will start high blood pressure medicine. Is this something that can make him fail the medical for the visa? On the immigration site it mentions contagious diseases as something that can make the visa not be approved. My fiance is worried that the interviewer will see this as a flag that he might not be able to work and might try to live off the system which would not happen.
I knew this visa adventure would be hard but I never guessed how hard!

Stacy,
I'm not certain that is a precaution. I think what they are looking for are more like spreadable diseases and mental state, not if his heart is strong enough. I'm sure that he is under alot of stress. God only knows half of us in the place is. I'm sure he will be fine. Tell him just to take his medication and relax (you all have done your part..Let the lord do his). Have faith, everything is going to be ok. I wish you the best.

well, high blood pressure can cause problems and should be looked after - but it shouldn't be a problem with your immigration visa. Since you are your fiance's sponsor, you will be responsible for any costs associated with medical treatment or your fiance's inability to work, so immigration isn't worrying about any potential impact upon the US taxpayer. Since high blood pressure isn't transmissible (although parents do say they get it from their kids!) and doesn't pose a health risk to any other individual, he will have no problems, immigration-wise, with the medical. Do get it treated though; it can be a serious problem with few symptoms.

Nope, high blood pressure is not a problem for immigration. But it is a very serious condition (and risk factor for other serious disease), he should see his doctor before he travels or someone once he gets to the US. Best bet may be the UK, since it should be covered for him.
