Not sure if this is the right place for it but I am going to be applying to remove the conditions on my residency at the end of the year. My wife has fallen pregnant which we are both really happy about. I have a few questions:

- will my child have dual citizenship?
- Should I be putting the child on my passport and my wifes?
- does the fact that I am still conditional present any problems in this case?

I love this site it was my savior when I started to struggle on this journey and is now my only source for information. Thanks for your help in advance.

Your child will be a U.S. citizen obviously. Whether s/he also will or can be a citizen of the U.K. is dependent upon the law there. Your child will be entitled to his/her own U.S. passport. Finally, rather than create any problems, your child's birth certificate will be the best evidence possible for supporting your petition to remove conditions. If you can wait until your child is born before submitting your petition, I would do so. Although the window for filing opens 90 days before the expiration of your conditional green card, you can file as late as the day before without any real problems.

Pretty sure he will have dual citizenship, but depends on the uk like James said. As for putting him on your passport, they don't do that anymore. They have to travel on thier own passport. And no it shouldn't make a difference in your case, except help it.

Yes the baby can be dual citizen, as can you when the time comes good.gif .

The UK permits dual citizenship. Hooray for that! good.gif

Congrats to you and your wife!
