His original appointment was for next Tuesday. However, he just found out he is starting a new job that day too. So he just went the local office, explained his situation, and with a little pleading, was fingerprinted right away.

I had a similar thing happen to me, I completely forgot about my biometrics appointment and I missed it, so the next day I went there first thing and stood in line before they even opened and the guard let me in after I explained the situation, everything went smoothly once inside.
