Hey, I just realized that there are two forms for support that could be required based on the Embassy. Can someone tell me whether the Montreal Consulate accepts the I864 or if we need to do the I134 instead?

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

I just read somewhere that a retired person cannot sponsor someone into the US is that correct? I am not retired, but my father was going to joint sponsor him into the US with the I-864 and now I am wondering if that can really happen at all. unsure.gif Does anyone know any thing about this? I am going for a K3, but did that so that we could get him here quicker while the Immigrant visa was pending. I am feeling a bit confused and sad. Thanks for ANY HELP you could give me!

I-134 for K visas, and I-864 for immigrant visas.

both of the forms are quite similar. You can have a co-sponsor with the I134 aswell

I don't see any reason why a joint sponsor could not use their pension income or assets to joint sponsor, where did you read this?

I clicked out of the window just before I read this the first time. It was a question and answer list that I think was in archives here under visa journey, but while I was trying to search to refind that information I see lots of other information on retired people and sponsoring. I guess reading through this at times makes me excited and at other times nervous. I thank you for your response. If I do refind that question and answer I will post the URL for it.
