To all the brand new US Citizens I thought you'd be glad to know that I applied for my US passport on may, 24th and I got it last friday june, 6th!! Way faster than the 4-6 weeks they give as an estimate!
Now my journey is truly over... star_smile.gif
Good luck with everything!

Poor timing on my part, just happen to meet the woman of my dreams after 9/11, too bad we didn't meet a bit earlier, and applied for my US passport just when suddenly Mexico and Canada required one if you travel by airlines. Guess terrorists don't know how to drive and they must love those airline inspections. Maybe I would like them too if I was gay.

Then a rate increase by the USCIS that caused millions of applications well after ours that slowed everything down. Thought in immigration, everything was done in a timely matter, was wrong on that too. Just poor timing. But finally, things are starting to move again.

congrats....

keep your nataralization letter in a safe place, I heard you can use your passsport for almost anything to prove your US citizenship and shouldn't have to produce your nat. latter.

I also heard that if you loose your nat. letter you will have to deal with the immigration office again.....

goodluck....

just my 2 cents blush.gif

Congratulations!

We are still in the 2nd A-File limbo

To answer your question...yes, the certificate comes back separately, but I happened to receive both envelopes the same day. You'll get it soon I am sure star_smile.gif BTW if they lose it or damage it they are liable for it (I asked about it when I applied just to be sure), so no worries

Wow! Congrats to all!

It's good news for us too - spouse applied for his passport today (he is the USC). Good to know they process faster than the 4-week time announced on the webpage.

Update for folks served by the Chicago passport office. Spouse's passport arrived yesterday. 9 days from the time the application was submitted. Check was cashed mid-lastweek. Copy of birthcertificate also came in the same letter. Pretty good service - unlike the USCIS!
