Does anyone have an example of the letter that friends sent supporting the application for removal of conditions? The sample one on the forum seems perhaps a little over the top with legal stuff and also is intended to be notarized which doesn't seem to be necessary.

Also does it matter that the two people we plan to use are my mother in law and father in law?

Thanks,

Ian
It's Melvin
A sworn affidavit, which is what the instructions specify as opposed to a "letter," is a legal document. So it's supposed to have "legal stuff." This is a legal process, after all, albeit before an agency rather than a court.

Notarization is a way of confirming that the affidavit is sworn. If you don't want to or can't get the affidavit notarized, federal law allows the the use of the following instead:
Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1746, I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct.

EXECUTED on (date)

(signature)
Just take out the notary block on the example form and substitute the above language.

Edit: yes, you can use your in-laws.

Its always better to have your affidavits notarized. The basic layout should be short and concise with the person stating their name, address, how they know you and a wee paragraph about a recent event that involves y'all (e.g went on vacation together, had dinner at their home, went to movies etc). The samples on VJ can be adjusted to suit your requirements, but they do serve as a good guideline.

Good Luck!
