I arrived at the Consulate at 7AM. I was the first one waiting. A lady and her daughter arrived a few minutes later.
Then other people started to arrive and we started to form a line.
The security guard came around 7:30AM and opened the door. I had to present him with my appointment letter and my passport.
Then some other guards asked me to put all my documents in a tray and empty my pockets in another one.
I was given a tag with the letter A and "Window #9" written on it.
I then went through the metal detectors and also got checked with the manual detector.
Then they told me to go down the stairs and wait in a waiting room until some other guard would come and get me around 7:45AM
I waited there for about 5 minutes and a guard showed up right on time at 7:45AM and led all the people waiting in the room in an elevator. We went up to the 19th floor where we were instructed to have a sit in another waiting room.
Then a few minutes later I got to present myself to a window and give my documents to a very nice lady: passport (she didn't sak for a photocopy of it), pictures, Xpresspost enveloppe, letter of intent from my girlfriend, birth certificate (original, translation (since I was born in France) and copies of original and translation), police certificates (again same thing: originals and copies), I-134 and supporting documents (I only gave her the letter from my girlfriend's employer as well as the W2's and forms 1040 for years 2007, 2006, 2005 ; she said it was enough supporting documents so I didn't have to give any bank statements or pay stubs). Note: She just took the photocopies of the W2 and forms 1040 and told me that they don't like to keep the originals of those documents so....
Then she told me to go to window #14 and pay the 131$. I just had to wait there a few minutes because window #14 wasn't opened yet.
Again another very friendly lady took my momey, gave me a receipt for my payment and told me to go directly back to the other window.
There I gave my receipt to the same first lady that had taken my documents a few moments before. She then took my fingerprints and told me to wait in the waiting room until someone calls my name for the interview in room 7 or room 8.
This is pretty much the only moment where I had to wait for a nice amount of time (about 40 minutes I would say).
I was then called into room 8 where a very nice man asked me fo raise my right hand and swear the all the information contained in the documents I had provided were true.
He then went very quickly through all the documents and asked me several questions about me and my girlfriend: how and where I had met, what was the name of the bar we met, what I was planning on doing for a living when I move to the US, what is my girlfriend's job, if she had kids, how old they were, if my girlfriend was already divorced at the time that I met her....
He didn't even ask to see any pictures, plane tickets, phone bills....nothing!!
He told me that I was approved and wished me good luck in the US.
He said he would try to have my visa printed this afternoon and maybe sent today or tomorrow at the latest so that I should receive it within a week or so.
At 9PM sharp I was outside!!
Overal it has been a very smooth experience and all the people that I had to deal with at the Consulate were all very professional and polite.

Congrats but you said you didn't leave until 9PM, well I suppose as long you were approved. laughing.gif Now you can look forward to the nice folks at your POE muttering, "Bienvenue aux Etats-Unis," or "Ou est la bibliotheque," I forget which. laughing.gif
