Hello everyone, does anyone know how long it takes to get an approval on the I-601? I was told that after my husbands first interview he would have to file for the I-601 for unlawful presence and that it's takes up to 9 months to be approved. Is this true? I cant have my family apart that long.
Everyone please advise any info you have on this waiver.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I truly understand your pain. I hope you consider a visit to see him if the wait is prolonged.
My husband has been under security checks for the past 8 months. I have heard somewhere between 10-12 months. It can take less time if you are proactive and request inquires, etc. I will pray for you, and I really hope you and your family are reuinited soon.

Thank you so much. I was reading that they are trying to have the I-601 apps approved the same day as the interview. I read the best thing to do is as soon as I find out my first interview date to call and schedule my waiver interview but it cant be any closer than 3 days after my first interview.

Definitely read up on Mexico's Pilot Program! Very lucky you're going through Mexico! You have a good chance of having the waiver approved then, like you mentioned. I believe some have estimated that chances are as high as 50% that waivers get approved at the appointment. The rest go into regular processing and are taking anywhere from 6 to 12 months. Good luck! Check out immigrate2us.net if you haven't already. Lots of info and advice on preparing waivers.

The link they tried to give you was to immigrate2us . net

There are a lot of people going through Mexico there. You should check it out. There is a lot of important information you should see before the interview.

Where did you read that? The part where they might one day have the wavier I-601 applications approved when the visa interview is taking place. That would rock! I so plan on my I-601 prepared for the day I have my interview.

Good luck to us all - after all, Love makes the world go around! laughing.gif

The processing they are talking about is a pilot program they are doing only in Mexico. No other country processes in that way.

We only wish that they had this process in Canada too.

If they are doing it for people from Mexico, then they should do it for Canadians too! We are all neighbours wacko.gif !

Canadians have the worst wait times of all countries for 601 processing and then, frankly, the Montreal Consulate. . .the only one that processes immigrant visas in Canada, gets to have it's way with you too. . .

a year or more in processing and then months for Montreal to acknowledge that anything has changed. . .with plenty of opportunities for them to treat ya like $hi+ in the meantime ClockWatch2.gif

They should do it for us Panamanians also. good.gif

Panamania, they should in fact, be able to do it universally. It's too bad they don't see it like we do :-(

That is why Sharon and I are preparing for her immigration to Canada. Totally fed up with the US BSing hoop jumping.

I did the same thing while waiting, and then everything finally got approved. . .problem is Canada seems to take a long time too :-(
