Full Version: Interview in Montreal: question about I-134 supporting documents

Hi!
I have my interview in Montreal on Monday and I have a couple of last minute questions:

1- I was wondering if I need to provide photocopies of the supporting documents for the I-134 (W2, Form 1040, pay stubs, letter from employer, bank statements....)?

2- Do I need to provide photocopies of plane tickets? Are they going to keep my original plane tickets?

3- Also since the earning statements from my girlfriend's job and also her bank statements are only available online, she gave me printed copies of those. Is it OK?

Thank you in advance!

I can't help you because it's been too long since my interview and lots of things have changed. Plus I can't remember. LOL. But I'm kind of worried about your question "Are they going to keep my original plane tickets?" You sent them plane tickets? unsure.gif

I'm not sure if bank statements printed from the internet would be valid. You have to call up your bank and ask for an officer of the bank to prepare a signed report for you.

My fiancee uses bank of america, and she requested such a report through the phone. The estimated time it takes for them to prepare it and mail it out is 10 days (from what the bank told us). I have my interview on monday, and I'm just taking the w2's, pay stubs, employer letter and the tax returns as evidence for the I-134, since we haven't received the bank statements that we ordered 2 weeks ago. From what I've read on here, you only need your bank statement if your fiance/fiancee does not meet the 125% over the poverty line requirement.

Ajay, you'll have to let me know how that works. I went in to get a letter from my bank and it was like asking for their first born. They gave me a half-### one that I don't really want to use. I have 4 years of tax returns, pay stubs, mortgage statements, and letters from my employer, so if I don't need to the bank letter, that would be great.

Yes I know what you mean, my fiancee even tried crying to get them to prepare one for her to pick up, but no luck... I will post a review sometime tuesday night on how my interview went and let you know if they asked for the bank statement.

From what I remember, they were most interested in the tax filings. She specifically asked if she could keep the copies of them, which we had provided. We had a letter from the bank, but they returned it to us after looking at it - didn't seem like they were that interested in that. I'm fairly certain they kept copies of all the W2s as well, but I'm not 100% sure of that. I also think the pay stubs helped.

I think whatever you can provide helps. You're trying to remove any doubt they have. Basically, we provided what was required for the affadavit of support. Then she asked if there was anything else we'd like to submit regarding the financial picture. And that's when we handed over everything we had.

I wish I could be more specific, but it was a whole 3 months ago that we had our interview and my memory is already fuzzy! smile.gif

you want to have a photocopy of everything and give them photocopies, except for the bank letter and employer letter (make sure you keep a photocopy of those). They will ask to see your originals if they need to.
