Thanks! I've had three different major things happen in my life that were actually accompanied by the sight of a single monarch butterfly soon after, so the butterfly release was extremely fitting. My mother knew how to raise monarch butterflies because of her prior work at the county nature reserve and thus was able to provide them for the wedding at no cost!

This was our wedding cake. It was melting by the time we got there. I don't know of anyone else who has had a Dairy Queen ice cream cake as their wedding cake, but it was SO GOOD.



Us cutting the cake. Our reception was at a Chinese restaurant owned by friends of... you guessed it... my mother. Did I mention that she was the whole reason we had a wonderful wedding? She has connections like you wouldn't believe!

U rock girl!!! Love DQ ice cream cakes!!! makes sooo much more sense that a damn cake you pay big bucks for and no one eats,lol MMMMMMMM DQ!!! Smart thinking, seriously!!

I made my wedding cake... banana with chocolate frosting.. it was soo good.. I decorated it myself too.. it looks very unprofessional but I loved it
the cake was small but I also made banana cupcakes with chocolate frosting... oh and the white things on the cake are those white chocolate melting wafers... I havne't found anything like those down here in the US


I found those glass candle holders at a thrift store.. and I just bought silver sparky tea light candles to put in them and the blue glass stone things I got at the dollar store... the table looked pretty I thought...

he totally rammed a huge piece of cake in my mouth.. and on the video you can hear me saying.. "its good", with a mouth full of cake

Marilyn, I've found white chocolate melting wafers at Hobby Lobby in their cake decorating / candy making section. I've made cranberry almond bark with them. Is there a Hobby Lobby near you?

My sister-in-law made our wedding cake and groom's cake. They seriously were the best cakes I have eaten in a long time, I think she used Sprite or something in it. You could see me in my wedding video talking about my cake too (glad I wasn't the only one that did that, Marilyn!)





Again, I am so thankful I gave my brother film to take pics!

nope haven't seen any hobby Lobby stores around here...

up in Canada you could buy them from the bulk bins at Superstore and also the chocolate ones....

they seem to have them everywhere except for none in few north eastern states and none in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada or California

yeah, I know -- where are the Bulk Barn stores around here?!?!?

But I can always ship some to you if you ever want/need them. I think a 2 pound bag is around $3?? I'll have to check.

Here's our wedding cake

His grandma has been working in a bakery for most of her life, and she had promised a few years ago that she would never make a wedding cake again because it's too much work. But when he asked her about it she said yes. And honestly we thought she would make a regular rectangle cake with some decorations on it....So imagine our surprise when we saw that!!! And this is officially her last wedding cake, and she was happy to do it as our wedding gift. She is so sweet. She is 78 yo.

Pretty cake and I love the frosting all over your faces! lol When my husband and I got married, we did it at the justice of the peace in Colorado and then went to village inn with my family... so we didn't technically have a "wedding cake"... but after seeing all the wedding pics here on VJ, I am really wanting to have another ceremony when all the immigration stuff is done up in either Quebec or Niagra Falls so that his family can attend.

I have a question for you. Do you know or like Noir Silence? There is a song on their Piege album after "Naissance". I kinda like the song, but I was just wondering if you had ever heard it. Have you?

Ontarkie I love the colours you chose! You look lovely. We are having our Big Hoo-Ha wedding next summer, and I have been looking for flower girl dresses. Our colours are turquoise and hot link and cherry red. Is that your daughter in the aqua dress?? Where did you find it - it's lovely. Of course, she is MUCH more "bridesmaid" age, but I just like how simple and vibrant it is...

Forgive me for I am technically challenged when it comes to putting together slide shows. Heck, I'm technically challenged in most everything else! Here are a few of our photos from our day. The rest are in photobucket but I will forewarn you that I am the least photogenic person in the world.

I love all the pictures and slide shows everyone is so happy and beautiful/handsom.

I was so happy to be able to post some of our pictures, my son did a great job.

We got married at The Old Mill in North Little Rock. And for the ppl who have seen Gone with the Wind its was in the opening scene of that movie. I loved it, the Mill was the most perfect spot for us.

Blue, yes it is my daughter we got her dress at the bridal closet. It was right off the shelf, i was happy she picked one that didnt make her look all grown up, plus she just had to have pic tails in her hair. I love how she still wants to be a little girl.
