My husband went to his interview morning of the 6th (late night for me), he was the last to be called. He was questioned by indian female and then later by american female. soooo many questions devil.gif , he had just renewed his passport and they wanted to see his old passport (he left in the hotel room), they wanted to see ration card and/or voter card, he said he didnt have them with him (left in hotel), and then he was told to go have lunch and return at 3pm. when he returned he was the only one there, they called him up same interviewer and he handed the voter card, and old passport to her and she was surprised so she marked that off the paper (she had originally told him he had to take them to the VFS office, I guess this is 221G and by handing the documents then he didnt have to take to VFS now). I was called at 247am (317pm IST) I was asked many many questions about family (mine and his), names of parents (both) kids (his and mine), knowlege of previous marriages (both divorced prior), about the wedding, honeymoon, where we traveled both times I was there hotels we stayed (I have had little sleep all night long, so many interuptions, so much worry, but all our answers were honest and the same. Then after interview my husband says he was given back his passport and 221g form with nothing marked on it and was told there is an "administrative review" and they would call him to take his passport to VFS he would not have to return to Chennai. crying.gif

Now will some one please tell me why the AR now when all documents have been given that were requested? what else are they going to do? how long do we have to wait?

sorry I posted this in the wrong forum...should be CR-1

Hello,

I don't have anything to say but do pray that your husband gets his approval soon.

May be the AR is for the voter card and older passport he submitted later on.

Hey, Indian Heart I know how you guys must feel My wifes case is Additional Review also since April 23, 2008 even more stressful is the fact that she is due to have our first child in July, so if we don;t get her Visa by end of this month we're in for more paper work.

I would suggest wait about a week Call DOS 202-663-1225 option 1 then 0. Let the person know that you want to check the status of your Pettion give them the case #. Wait to see what they say usually response is simply that your case is under review. At this point I would ask if name checks are being requested if they say no then its almost certainly a Relationship Validity issue and will hopefully be resolved in a few weeks. Hope this helps.

SOP - Standard Operational Procedure

Administrative Review/Administrative Processing comes last after all other documents are confirmed and interview was successful. It is the final step where the case gets sent back to the USA to have name checks/fingerprint checks at CIA/FBI and other agencies.

The only reason I can think of as to why it comes last is because of the cost/resources involved in doing these kind of checks.

If the USCIS was to do the EXTENSIVE CHECKING that is Administrative Review on each and every applicant the whole system would be bogged down. So each step the immigration process is a filter to weed out people/applicants who don't meet required criteria. Those that are left, get the more complex security checks.

I can only think that it is relationship because of all the questions we were both asked...has any american been called in the middle of the night to be interviewed at the same time as spouse?????
my husband was asked same questions morning and afternoon interviews and I was asked the same questions too on the phone by indian lady interview while my husband was being questioned by american lady interviewer. I am stunned by this, I never beleived we would run into this trouble. I know a young man personally (not a friend at all) he doesnt really work, stays stoned all the time, doesnt even work enough to take care of himself, who went to peru, married a girl, and came back and filed for fiance visa, they lied in the documents.....she got it. why do liars and cheaters get away with this and honest people get put through HELL??????

I am sorry to hear that rose.gif don't worry too much about it yet. Just keep following it up with the Consulate or the DOS. I was in AR too only for 24 hours. They don't always take too much time and you did the right thingbysubmitting the docs then and there and saved a lot of time. Hopefully things will get sorted out quick

thank you for this, I needed to hear such a thing. we beleive with all our hearts that God has brought us together, we are perfect for each other and being older then most feel that it is our turn to have a good life as the first half was not so good. the hardest thing for me right now is I can do nothing and will hear nothing for 3 days (of course I have done all I can right now...send email to consulate about the fact that I need to have surgery and postponed for my husband to be here to take care of me, wrote to my senator, called DOS and too soon for them to have information, but at least I feel better doing something). again thank you for encouragement

DanielParul, also my husband was told they would call him when they were ready for him to submit his passport to VFS, did you go through the same thing? does this sound promising?

Being called in the middle of the night does happen often to many sponsors.

If God brings you to it, he will bring you thru it.
Be strong indianheart, I know is not easy but you have to be little bit more patient, every case is different. rose.gif heart.gif good.gif

Hey Indianheart.. Yes thats what I was told. However I called them back the next day and they told me my case was in AR. I called them again the next day and they had issued me the visa. I know its hard, but keep your chin up. It will happen. The key is to call them up every 2-3 days and call the DOS if the Consulate doesn't answer the phone (it happens and is quite frustrating) DOS will have all the info in the case as they work on the same system and the DOS actually keeps a check on all the Consulates.
All the best to both of you. I will keep you in my prayers rose.gif
