Does anybody have a clue of determining these processing times??? Is it on recent approvals, past processing trends?

Hey Paris

I think its all buuch a lie. Nobody know for sure how accurate they are coz people might be putting wrong dates on their timelines as they dont want other to find out though. But If i guess, then it would be on recent approvals other than that I dont know. What happened to your request??? Anything?

If you look at the timelines, I think this may be the date which is kind of the average of when people are getting approved right now.

I don't know for sure, but at the USCIS website once a month they report processing times and they report the dates of the cases they are currently working on or just finished. Does that answer your question?

Paris -

I believe the processing timelines you are referring to are derived from recent approvals rather than trended data. Trended data may not be representative of current situation and probably won't make a good indicator.

Based on this logic, I believe it's derived from recent approvals.

If someone knows for sure then please to clarify!

I think it is based on the data we put on our timelines. So they just do the math. We could have a better idea of average timelines if everybody updated their information in there... However it is not a precise information.

Hi Paris, no one can really predict about Vermont's processing. Our I-130 was approved May 12, until now there is no news about our I-129F. Goodluck to ur journey.

Thanks Paris, I read all your post and i know how hard it is for you and ur husband to be away from each other. I hope & pray that your approval will come soon. Take care.

The timeline is an average of approvals from fellow VJ people. The date gets weird when an old case gets approved. Be happy that means they approved someone that really deserved an approval. Most everyone will get approved by the time on the estimate. Your timeline should return to normal once more people get approved. Unless they go on a binge of cleaning out the oldest cases. I really hope that estadia gets approved soon even though that will put the estimated date way out.

There is a quite a bit of data reduction and "outlier" detectection as well as a several other factors but in general the dates are based on other member "actual" timelines. As it turns out there is a lot of data to look at and using a statistical model we can reach fairly good estimates. Since no case is quite average there is always some wiggle room. The more timelines in the system the better the estimates of course.

In any case, if you want more specific estimates you can create a timeline with your current info. Your timeline page will then contain estimated approval dates for you based on a lot more info. The approval dates generated here tend to be more accurate for average cases than you might think. The big problem (as inferred above) with the USCIS dates is that they are only updated once a month and are rarely able to be trusted completely based on past member experiences.

On a side note, we have some tools that are run to try to catch obvious mistakes (for dates) by members in their timelines. Some alert the member immediately when entering the dates and some we catch behind the scenes and fix (putting the wrong year, etc). Also when there are timelines with dates very ver far from a statistical mean those dates are treated differently.

I hope this helps!

PS Any suggestions to improve the system are ALWAYS welcome! This thread has even given me the reminder to take a peak and see if there are any improvements to be had (since I have a little free time now). smile.gif

So what does that mean when I put in for my AOS - filed 10/28/05 and adjudicated/approved 5/30/2008? Its treated differently simply because it took longer?
Captain Ewok
Nope. Only statistical outliers might be removed. They have to basically be waaay outside of the norm.
