We're still in the NOA1 part of this right now. He's getting depressed & wants to quit his job..visit us for a few weeks in the US...then go over to Greece & stay with his parents until the visa is done.

Can he do this without complications? Like does he need to go to the London US embassy or can he go to a different one? Will changing his address to somewhere other than UK cause problems?

I told him he should keep his job & just hang in there..it just seems like him going through with this idea would be a complete disaster.

Besides that, mail takes forever to get to Greece. Which is not fun stuff

Ha ha. My fiancée Lin is going through that right now. I have to visit her in a few weeks so that she doesn't go insane on me. She's depressed, wants to quit her job, and move back to Shanghai from Tokyo to be with her family until her visa comes. It will delay things a bit, but I guess it's either that or she dumps me because she can't handle being alone anymore. She's the boss

Oh, be sure to tell the USCIS or whomever that he is changing addresses!

Thanks for the replies! I told him it's best to keep his butt where he is. It's already annoying that I need to notify them of his new UK address...it only adds to the stress, if I had to give them an address outside of his home country...bleh


We're both already spazzed out about how long this process will take...when i mentioned that his idea would only make things take a lot longer, he dropped his idea immediately.

I would be very careful about changing addresses if you want to avoid delays. I changed my address after filing an I-129F on behalf of my fiance, and it delayed us by a month. According to a USCIS officer the file was taken out of the queue and reinserted back in as of the date of the address change. Don't know if that applies for the person being sponsored, but it certainly applied for the sponsor.

On the broader scale I also think that having to wait 6 months or so is insignificant in a serious relationship. There are people on the board who have waited two years or more...

yes, i know that. The thing is, we don't even know how long ours will take, maybe it'll end up being more than a year? We have a child together & don't know if that adds to the process. If we knew exactly when the visa would be approved, we wouldn't be stressed.
