Hi all, i need your opinions...will be filing my I-751 by the end of the month

How important is it for me to submit IRS tax transcripts instead of photocopies of our joint 1040's (unsigned) that i've got in my files?

And do i really need to attach the W-2's too?

Thanks all and goodluck to those waiting for their GCs! happy.gif

You can do either - we chose the tax transcripts as they were less bulky and we already had a lot of information - plus we had 4 years worth to submit. I wouldn't worry about including the attachments as this isn't to see that you are financially able to support a spouse, etc., rather to indicate that you have co-mingled financial assets and are filing your taxes as a married couple.

you might want to sign them, though

Kathryn41 is correct. What is most important is to show the joint relationship between a husband and wife. This is why they ask for rental agreements, utility bills, credit card statements in both names. You can also show life insurance naming your spouse as primary beneficiary or retirement accounts. The service center is just looking for evidence of a marriage which means to them joint ownership and obligations.

I always send copies printed off Turbo tax - have never used IRS transcripts and have been always OK. Good Luck
