I'm seeing some conflicting info of the marriage certificate copy type that must be submitted for I-130 form. Can someone confirm whether a "Certified" copy of marriage certificate is required??

thank you!

I made it certified just in case and sent it off, would not hurt anything. It's better than to receive an request for it if tehy decide they need it:)

But maybe someone has a better answer for you:)

We are dealing with the Vermont service center. We sent a photocopy with the I130 but a Certified Copy with the DS-230 Visa application
Hope it helps

You contact the county recorders office when you were married. For a fee they will give you a certified copy of the original that they have in their original book of records. You keep this certifed copy in your possession, but you run it thru a copying machine, and send the copies to the USCIS. You take the original copy that you have to the interview in case they want to see it.
