What do you have planned for your song?

We have picked out To the End by Blur for the wedding song at the reception. For the ceremony Nicky wants This is the Sea by The Waterboys for the song we walk out to.
Jomo's girl
I love "There's no way" by Alabama and "Still the One" by Shania Twain as wedding songs.
English Muffin
We had a quickie Vegas wedding with generic music in the background. We were able to choose a song for the introduction to our DVD though and we chose 'Heaven' by Bryan Adams.

Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks
Alex & Rachel
Music is probably the only area in which mine and Alex's tastes differ wildly. So I'm choosing the safe option and not having any music! We won't have dancing so I've asked Alex to pick some inoffensive background music for after the ceremony.

Didn't have any music at the ceremony or reception. But when we were driving back down from Vermont after the ceremony, I remember hearing "You Are the Woman" by Firefall on the radio and feeling like everything was pretty good with the world. After all, we not only got married, we also fit in a visit to the Hemmings Motor Museum!

I heart.gif Bennington, VT!

Processional: Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Fauré

recessional: The Four Seasons: Spring, III. Allegro: Pastoral Dance (Vivaldi)
Robyn-n-Kris
The only son that will ever be for Kris and I will be At The Beginning. It is too perfect.
*julez*
For the processional we used the opening of Dvorak's Symphony #9 "From the New World"...we didn't have a dancing reception, so no official 1st dance song.

psho
No songs for us (married at a county office, then quick lunch with the very small wedding party), but as we drove into our mini-honeymoon destination (Calistoga, CA) the song "Smoke Two Joints" came on the radio and we nearly crashed the car we were laughing so hard!

I love "There's no way" by Alabama and "Still the One" by Shania Twain as wedding songs.

This is a song that is very dear to us although not "our" song - we used to sing it to each other the first time round blush.gif

We had Pachelbel's "Canon" to walk "in" to (I honestly didn't realise it was a really popular wedding piece - I just love it!!) and then behind the ceremony we had "Eyes on Me" which is a song from the Final Fantasy game series. Then We had the Wedding March to walk "out" to just for tradition's sake biggrin.gif
britty
I walked up the aisle to "May It Be" by Enya, and our first dance song was "You Do Something To Me" by Paul Weller.

hiya all....

For our ceremony we had a friend play his mandoiln...he played an old timey hymn. It was awesome and fitting! our wedding was outside in a rock pavilion in Western NC.

The band that played for our wedding learned 2 songs both by favorite bands of ours but pretty underground for American standards...
Porcupine Tree and Blackfield!! It was amazing for us!

We didn't have any music at our wedding.....but our song is Save Your Love by Great White. We have the lyrics "Save All Your Love For Me" on our wedding bands (I did on my engagment ring too) and we also have matching sheet music tattoos from the song.

I love that song!!

The song we're going to dance our first dance to will be "I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden. I think it's appropriate seeing as we met and fell in love online before actually meeting in person.

Also the song I want to dedicate to my man at the wedding is "I'll Be There" by S Club 7. smile.gif

We are using Bob Dylan's 'The Wedding Song' for people sitting down, The Decemberists 'Red Right Ankle' for Mercedes walking down the aisle and In Spite of Ourselves for our first dance.

Red Right Ankle Sample Lyrics ...

"This is the story of your red right ankle And how it came to meet your leg
And how the muscle, bone, and sinews tangled And how the skin was softly shed
And how it whispered “Oh, adhere to me For we are bound by symmetry
And whatever differences our lives have been We together make a limb.”

In Spite of Oursleves Lyrics ... it's a duet between male/female vocals ...

She dont like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the easter bunny
Shes my baby Im her honey
Im never gonna let her go

He aint got laid in a month of sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin my undies
He aint too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like its oxygen
Hes my baby
And Im his honey
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
Well end up asittin on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, were the big door prize
Were gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There wont be nothin but big old hearts
Dancin in our eyes.

She thinks all my jokes are corny
Convict movies make her horny
She likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs
Swears like a sailor when shaves her legs
She takes a lickin
And keeps on tickin
Im never gonna let her go.

Hes got more balls than a big brass monkey
Hes a wacked out werido and a lovebug junkie
Sly as a fox and crazy as a loon
Payday comes and hes howlin at the moon
Hes my baby I dont mean maybe
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
Well end up asittin on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, were the big door prize
Were gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There wont be nothin but big old hearts
Dancin in our eyes.
There wont be nothin but big old hearts
Dancin in our eyes.

Hey

I think we are going with 'So Amazing' by Luther Vandross.

We played this as we signed the register.....

And walked out to this..... laughing.gif

Ours was the chirping of birds and wind blowing at the Rose Garden
But my wife and I love the song "I just fall in love again" by Anne Murray.
kjw
"LOVE WILL BE OUR HOME" by Sandi Pati
Wacken
None. I don't think the thought ever occured to us to have one.

We're having a lute player and a harpist for the reception, and are not planning on music for the ceremony. But my friend's son has been begging me to hire his Pipe and Drum band to play for the wedding. We're considering it. 2 bagpipers and 3 drummers playing 'Ode to Joy' could be nice smile.gif

But we're doing doing cd's for our guests at the Polterabend with "our songs" and the wedding songs of the couples attending (his parents, aunt/uncle, close friends, etc) with the song, their names and anniversary on the cover.
marstorr
We chose two songs - one at the beginning of the ceremony and one at the end. I walked to First Day of my Life by Bright Eyes, and my husband chose Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan as his song for the end.

for the father/daughter dance i like i loved her first by heartland. its perfect.

Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment and each others face
So much in love your alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one
She told me so
And she still means the world to me
Just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything
Life must go on
And I'm not gonna stand in your way

But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it still hard to give her away
I loved her first

How could that beautiful women with you
Be the same freckle face kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time

But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But its still hard to give her away
I loved her first

From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first
