My fiance is from Berwick upon Tweed, right on the England/Scotland border.

I lived in Harrow, NW London from the age of 4 until I moved to Illinois in 2005.

Sheffield, at least for the past seven years. It's a lovely city. More than half the people who graduate from university here remain in the city because they like it so much, so there's quite a young demographic. I knew nothing about the city before moving here - my knowledge of English geography used to be shameful! I've since made more of an effort to become generally acquainted with places and names.

It's really amazing some of the really nice cities that are in the UK but are off the tourist route. My DF's hometown is certainly off the beaten path, but it is such a beautiful and historic wee town I'm surprised there isn't more tourism than there is.

My husband is from South Yorkshire. Barnsley to be exact!

We both live in NC now...quite happy!

Yes, Jer - we covered this before, member the halloumi discussion (& Gloucester Road)? I'm sure we had others too. Hubby is from there but we met & dated when he lived in London.

We live in Bristol but my brit husband is from South Wales.

The boy was born in Gloucester, moved to South Yorkshire (a little village somewhere near Sheffield) when he was very young, then moved to Kent as a teenager. After uni he settled in London, where we met. We're now in New Haven, CT and on our way to Los Angeles in just under 4 weeks.

All this Brizzle love! I lived in Woodland Road for a year from 1997-98.

I lived in Laxey. It was a pretty nice place to grow up but I haven't been back since I moved at 14. I always wanted to go back and see how much it had changed. My friend told me that people have actually started locking their doors in the last couple of years!

I love Peel though, we used to go the the castle and watch the Shakespeare plays!

Glyn and I live in a little village on the outskirts of Staffordshire and Cheshire. Post code says we live in Cheshire....but all of our services are from Staffordshire .

One of my friends from when I studied in London back in the early nineties (when I met my husband) was from Laxey. He has been to visit us since we moved to LA and I was wearing the IOM football jersey he gave me just yesterday. I also have a good friend who lives in Kidlington, which someone mentioned upthread. Small world.

As for Peel castle, when I turn my bedroom light off at night, illuminated Peel castle is the view from my bedroom window

It is a small world! The IOM has a football team?? When I lived there everyone either supported Man U or Liverpool.




Ooh I went up that water wheel. Once. It was scary! I had a friend who lived just down the street from there, it was a nice view!
Must be amazing to have Peel castle all lit up when you look out the window. I love that castle, I keep telling hubby I'll have to take him to the IOM one day because it's such a great place to visit.
